Bulk harvest storage

TheCannabisGods have blessed me once again w/ a bumper harvest

There must be some alternative to multiple mason jars when dealing w/ curing and storing large quantities. I don’t want to repeat this again next year.

From what I’ve found, hard plastic degrades the bud and plastic bags are trichome magnets. I would think food grade bags would be bad also.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Grove Bags with TerpLoc Technology for the win!

I am sure some of the big growers will chime in. I had a 3 lb harvest last year. It’s been in freezer bags in the freezer since last Jan have not had any troubles thus far. There is some kief in the bags not enough to be concerned about. Being stored that way just seems to get better, no loss of taste or smell or effectiveness.

I second at what @Newt said. They are so cheap price wise and you don’t have to burp them like the jars. You want to get the buds in them once they are 59-62% RH or 10-12% moisture content in the buds. You can get a moisture meter for cheap as well on Amazon. There is a thread on the Grove bags if you search it here. Tons of useful information regarding the best way to go about it. This forum has amazing people who share the best knowledge, tricks, and tips!

I have not used the Grove bags personally or else I would give you some more info on them. If you read that thread you’ll order some lol I ordered mine and I haven’t gotten to my first harvest yet

Thanks Newt, but it’s plastic and @ $5/bag for 4 oz’s???

I know they say anti static but there’s no way trichomes won’t fall off and no way to recapture, as I do w/ an alcohol wash in glass jars.

Also, paying a premium for the humidity control seems way out of line, compared to Boveda envelopes.
Curing is not a difficult process unless you’re constantly opening and closing 50 mason jars.
Since these come in 4 oz bags that would still be more than I’d like to monitor. My quart mason jars hold about 2+ oz’s
Thanks again for the input

I’ve used the grove bags and they’ve been great. Havnt tested long term yet because we burn through it pretty quick.

No. Use the build your own shopping option, and they are like $2 for the 1/2 lb opaque bags.

I went to ebay instead of the website
$1.90 for 1/2 lb bags would be great, if I can just get over the plastic thing…or as they say “layers of film”
More googles to travel

Thanks Newt, I appreciate the info

CVaults are another option but they are not cheap for the big ones. I use the 8 liter CVaults that can hold about a pound.

If you go to the dispensary area small case quantities reduce the per bag $ a bit

If you are really talking bulk you can go with 3 or 5 gallon buckets with screw on lids
I used 1/2 gallon canning jars last harvest. Hard to find them now. Amazon is happy to sell six for $40+

Wow
serious stuff, but I only need to save until next year’s harvest, not the next millennium…
