Just wondering how important it is when flipping to get the correct 12 hours of light and dark … can it be a few mins difference either way or does it have to be to the second?? Thanks

It does not have to be to the seconds . A timer will kick it on and off the same time every day. Happy growing

Wouldnt need to be seconds, but it should be somewhat consistent. Are you trying to do it manually, curious about what’s driving the question?
A cheap timer could save you a lot of headache. If you go manual, you might miss it by a bit and have them revert or stress.
I dropped my timer, so I tried to do manual till I could hit a store on the weekend. Got stuck in traffic, forgot when I walked in, remembered before bed. One foxtailed, the other hermied.
They aren’t to expensive. Might bet worth investing.

@John7 I’ve got two Bruce banner photoperiods , first indoor after just outdoors for years , I’ve got so much to learn ! Outdoors are easier I think although I’m growing in winter and having a hard time keeping temps up ,my plants are looking more like a Bonzi lol live and learn !

The reason the plants bloom at 12/12, that is the fall equinox. It is the start of fall. Every day past the equinox, the days are less than 12 hours. So, no, a few minutes will not matter.
