I Think I Screwed Up

A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks.

“I’ve been growing indoors since march. It’s never flowered. I went to start shutting light down 6 hrs. Forget and lights been off for a couple of days. I just turned it back on. Have I totally screwed this plant up? Why hasn’t it flowered sooner. Thanks”

You can still be okay I had a power outage for 40 hrs.and can’t put them in the sun and mine were fine but that is a easy mistake to make the best way to go is a light timer good luck

Should be fine. My preferred option is 12 hours on and 12 hours off and it’s best to be consistent over time therefore I agree with @Oldstoner a timer is the way to go.

I went a bit overboard as they come cheaper but I love this one

@Screwauger do you still check your timers ? I have a alarm set on my phone for every three days at the same time and check it

Yes @Oldstoner almost every day! I pop in so many times a day/night that I nearly hear the switch click on and off. This being a digital timer it blows my old one away (the kind with the push/pull pins) and it has a battery backup so if power outages happen or it comes unplugged it retains settings and can switch on/off for several days on battery power (not that it would matter if the power was out).

Okay I need one then the reason I check all the time is I have a push pull time I dont really trust thanks for the link

What is your light schedule, you mentioned beginning to shut down 6 hours. Have you giving them and darkness, cause they need the rest to build up strong roots.

If it is a photo period plant which I suspect it is you will need to change your light cycle to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. After a few weeks of that light cycle you will start to see the flowers being produced.

As others mentioned using a timer is very handy and allows you to Ron Popeel it (set it and forget it):+1:

Im with @Oldstoner as well get a timer they are cheap enough and there is enough stuff for you to do and worry about when growing :+1:
You should be fine as far as flowering that depends on how many hours of light they where getting
If more then 12 hours they won’t flower if they are photo plants if Auto some time they are stubborn and need to be tricked in to flower a kick start if you will
Definitely get that timer good luck and happy growing
I suspecting you where running an 18/6 schedule and that’s why they didn’t flower yet drop light schedule to 12/12

you need to buy a timer to put your plants on a regameted time. veg time is 6hrs off and 18hrs on. and to bud you need 12hrs on and 12hrs off. no more no less. on 12 12 you will see buds in two weeks.just don’t love them to death. I will help you more if you need it.

I have my grow room on solar power. it has to be a pretty good system. I run 5- 600 watt lights. plus all the other goodies. ive been at it for 15 years or so. gather a lot of grow stuff.

My plants look like crap two weeks in. Temps is highest at 86 and lowest at 76. Happy frog nutrients and ph is 5.8 when I water. Are they getting too much light or what? Please help me :frowning:

Wrong ph for soil? 5.8 is low shoot for 6.5

@WillyJ In Roberts grow guide he doesn’t say 6.5

Easy Grow Schedule For Soil Growers & Fertilizers

@Whitewidownoobie

Here is a chart that lays out why you want 6.5 in soil. 5.8 could work but you’re locking out most of your nutrients in the soil. (5.8 is the ideal ph for hydro).

Also this is from that article you just linked:

@Ray4x so 6.5 through all of the plants life?

@Ray4x How do I know when all my nutrients from my soil is used up and I have to start adding nutrients

@Whitewidownoobie

Yes that is a good baseline. Some people will slowly alter their ph as it nears the end of flowering to change the way the plant absorbs the last of the nutrients before harvest. But being new I would just aim for 6.5 as a target.

Also don’t know if you saw but I edited last post to show you in that article where it says about 6.5.

We just want to make sure you’re doing the best you can and that you got the right info.

I saw @Ray4x

Can I get a link to the article?
I’m trying my best to make sure I do everything correctly for the first grow.
