@Whitewidownoobie you’ll want to check you runnoff water this will tell you soil ph and you want that around 6.5 as @Ray4x has explained
So you may need to water with a higher or low ph depending on what the run off is just a heads up
If it wasn’t explained to you already
Happy growing

@Countryboyjvd1971 I understand that, but I don’t get the best way of changing the soils ph level. If the soil ph is 5.8 and I want it at 6.5 do I water it with water at 6.5 or do I water it with water that’s higher than 6.5 so I can compensate
That was from the article you linked:
A good baseline to tell when the nutrients in the soil are used up and it’s time to add some in is by using a TDS meter (total dissolved solids). This will give you a read of PPM in your runoff after watering.
When you start doing full waterings you’ll want to aim for 6.5 ph water to begin with for a 10% runoff out the bottom of the pot. Collect the runoff and measure it again for ph and ppm. Depending on what it comes out at is what you’ll want to adjust you ph to next time. If it comes out at 6.3- then water at 6.8 next time.
Depending on your type of soil you may not need to add in nutrients for a 3-4 weeks.
Also little round leaves that first sprouted with you baby holds a lot of nutrients to support the plant in early life. When those fall off it is also probably time to consider starting. Typically you won’t want to start until the 4-5th node.
@Ray4x I appericate the post ray. Tons of great informations there and it’s explained in terms I can understand
You’ll want to water at about 7ph to bring the soil ph up
what I do basically is figure how far off I am and then ad that to where I want to be
But with that said you’ll need to monitor the runnoff as you do to see where your at and adjust accordingly
As the run off gets closer to where you want it you’ll adjust water ph @ 6.5
I would run a gal or two of ph 7 water and recheck the adjust
I try not to water with over 7 ph but will have to occasionally to get soil where o need it
Hope this helps
Should also be known that at this point in their lives they need very little water. You should really only be misting with a spray bottle 2-3 times a day to keep it moist. Too much water will kill them this young.
@Ray4x so if I measure the waters ppm before water and the run off I can tell if my plants need nutrients added to them?
@Ray4x what kept happening was my soil on the top 3 inches were wet and the rest was really dry (1 gallon buckets)
Definitely a good starting place.
There’s a lot of debate on when you should or shouldn’t start nutrients. Some people go purely off ppm, others of when the feeder leaves yellow and fall off, and still others start exactly at the 4th or 5th node. You’ll have to make the decision yourself but we’re definelty here to help guide you.
Remember at this point please please don’t water to runoff. Keep the soil moist but not soaked.
@Ray4x okay, I’ve watered a few times to runoff which I’ll stop doing. Maybe that could be the reason my plants aren’t doing fantastic… If my lights weren’t off right now I could show you closer pictures.
If the top 3 inches are moist you should be good at this stage.
Too much water can suffocate the roots. Also prevents them from reaching out to find water and growing stronger.
Yes I would say that is too much water at this stage. Let them dry out a bit by the roots and I bet you see them perk right up.
Just keep the topsoil moist for probably about another week or so.
@Ray4x that’s awesome information. Is there anyway I can stay in touch with you? I enjoy people who are willing to teach because I’m willing to listen and learn.
Absolutely just keep posting on here and tag me whenever you need me (or anybody else for that matter) and we’ll come running!
Ps I just looked at your pics again and they don’t look half bad. One or two of them look like they’ve maybe gotten too much water. But they’re so young that they should perk up no problem.
You’re on the right track and definelty in the right place for support.
I started a WW about 3 weeks ago too. Really excited to see how she grows!
Sorry I just realized that we hijacked this thread! Haha I thought it was yours.
I saw you have another thread already. So tag me on updates over there please.
