Total newbie question, but why do most seed companies give yields as g/plant for outdoor and g/m2 for indoor grows? And what does the actual square-meterage of the indoor yield actually signify? The area of the grow space?
Which tend to produce more? I’ve always assumed it was outdoor, imagining gorgeous tall plants swaying in sunlit breeze. But upon reflection, it might be indoor that produces more, provided one knows what’s up?
Grams per meter squared is helpful to determine light efficiency. Not a problem outdoors. In general you would see higher yields with outdoor grows, assuming no issues.
When you use most indoor growing methods properly there is not an inherent difference in yield potential in growing 1 plant that fills a m² vs growing 4 plants that fill a m² vs growing 25 plants that fill a m². So if you scrog a single plant to fill a space and run a 25 plant sog to fill the exact same space with the same genetics the yield potential of 1 plant is about the same as 25 plants. There is no context to short veg time vs long veg time that would determine the size of the plants in question that would ultimately determine the yield on a per plant basis.
