I harvest one of the plants that are close to ready or ready…This is my first grow. We harvested it, trimmed it and froze the buds, then I freeze dried it. I checked the moisture level and it was dry.dry. I tried some and it had a great flavor but left a soapy after taste. The is the first time I have ever smoked…thought it maybe me but my wife had the same aftertaste. I didn’t flush them, but they have only gotten water the last 2 weeks. Can someone give some ideas on the aftertaste? Oh, it came in at 19Mg (T-Check) and a little over 2.5 oz from plant.

Chlorophyll takes time to go away.
From what I understand…
You can freeze dry after a curing period for long term storage, or freeze dry and use the product for edibles extraction.
But for smooth smoking you really need to go through a longer cure to give the chlorophyll time to decompose.
Further research on this would probably help.
You can try to wash a few buds then do the same process as freezing and see if that helps with the soapy taste.
From my research the freeze dry process was to cut down dry time, no chance of mold, preserve canniboids, and possibly increase thc level. Watched vids and read countless articles. -20-40 degree, 70-80 temp dry heat. I have 3 more left to harvest, im going to traditional dry one and freeze dry the other. Im wondering if I harvested to early and thats some of it.
I’m not a fan of freeze drying. A slow drying process is important for chlorophyll removal and ultimately, taste and smell.
