Liberty Haze Scrog attempt#1

This Liberty Haze has been vegging next to a completed 14 week auto, and is finally alone and I can try scrog!

I had to be very rough with her, to keep her in check, and she has taken to the HST very well.

Now to ”not get greedy”, and maximize efficiency for a hopefully great harvest in my 2x4. The net has 55 nice little spots for a bud site. Or will that be too crowded? Was also thinking 18, making one empty spot between all. What would you do?

Should I flip and fill it out using the stretch? Or veg a few weeks, final trim and flip?

Looking good. I would let it ride for a few days and then flip to flower. Continue to tuck for 7 - 10 days. :vulcan_salute: :man_mage:

Thanks man! Appreciate the feedback!

I did more cut than tuck to be honest. Been so much cutting on her I dont even think, just snip snip. Now I kinda see the branches and where they need to go, and will start tucking!

I have something growing in all needed directions, and will continue 24/0 a while, as it just explodes with growth after a cut back.

Autopot is amazing, the plants drink sooo much more than I could ever top water.

I have a couple of observations on SCROG’ing:

One plant per screen. This makes removing a problem plant possible.

Cells on the screen should be rectangular (makes threading through the cells easier with less stress)

Fill screen to 90% filled cells before flipping.

If possible, use an adjustable height frame to adjust as needed.

Have a large enough root ball to support many tops.

Keep in mind that the more tops (colas) you have makes each one smaller. Total yields will be similar to a more upright plant based on my experience.

I much prefer to thread the screen when plant is still pliant.

If that were mine I’d fill all cells before flipping. Then continue to weave as the stretch progresses. (counting on the stretch is problematic because every plant stretches differently or very minimally)

I like the way you think.

This is what I did’nt like about it when I tried a net.

Each of my plants has its own frame/net on casters.

Makes for easy access to all sides of the plant.
The system scales easily to any sized grow area and configuration.

Thats nice! @merlin44
I had 5 plants in a 3x3 w/net and needed to attend to the 1 in the back corner. Lol
I know they were over crowded to begin with.

Here’s one from last year. Got over a pound off of it.

I am still debating 18, 28 or 55 tops. Each probably has it pros and cons.

55 will get thick and bushy I guess.
28 probably a bit bigger and more room between tops. 18 feels like there will be tons of space and they will grow tall, large and maybe uneven, hard to manage etc?

In the coming days the center part will need to be curated and readied with selected small tops remaining, and the right side will complete a few days after that. The left side will dictate flip.

Hopefully all selected tops will be even in size, distance from root ball and ready for an amazing flowering! :bouquet:

4 days since flip, and looking good! I only had patience for around ~45 main tops with a few off-shoots I missed.

8 days after flip. She drank 10L in the last 3 light cycles, and looks 100% healthy! Autopots really serves the plants what it truly requires!

She is getting 30min of UVB to stimulate that R8 protein only Solacure seems to target

The canopy is even, 4 inches thick and starting to get bushy.

Still feeding her Canna Terra in their ”Vegetative phase II” phase of the nute schedule, as there are no formation of flowers yet.

I hope I dont need to defol/lollipop too much, but seems to develop bud sites below every fan leaf!

Two weeks after flip, and she is thriving!

The stretch has slowed down, and flowers are forming. I entered Canna’s Terra lines ”Generative Phase Period 1”, and just refilled the tank with 3 gallons of full dosage+12,5ml calmag

I am debating myself how much I should defoliate, and when. 21 days seems to be a thing, but also now, seems to be the right time to clear out large fans and just make the whole bush more airy?

3 weeks. I defoliated after the last post, and again yesterday. Now its opened up, and buds are forming nicely!

4 weeks into flower. A bit more defoliation, might remove yet more in a few days. Will also start pk13/14 next refill of tank. Looking great imho.

Nicely done SCROG: only one plant per screen too.

5 weeks. A week of PK13/14 and some slight nute burn. Flowers have really developed. I believe in Canna!
Dialing back on nutes in this mornings refill, steadily consumes 10L per 2,5-3 daylights.
Defoliated a bit, and it is a sticky, icky, lemony mess to do. Very good indications for a primo flower :green_heart::lemon:
