@Cap_Ron
Getty Lee’s new books out. Not sure if you’re into reading a lot. I just finished Sully Erna’s memoir from Godsmack. It was fantastic. Before that, I finished Jim Morrison’s book, “no one here gets out alive.” That is a fantastic read.
It’s good that you fed her even if she wasn’t 100% ready. One of the benefits of having some coco mixed in your soil is that it holds onto oxygen even when it’s saturated. It makes it very difficult to overwater, especially in fabric pots.
I’d say the 175EC for calmag is good at this stage, but if any of them continue to look like they need more you can raise it a little, no problem.
I pre ordered the book, but I don’t think it’s supposed to arrive until November.
I want to read Sully’s book as well, but I keep forgetting to otder it.
Happy Saturday to you too!
@Cap_Ron
Yellow Girl actually for the first time ever ate again this morning she was dry. That was about her 4th or 5th straight base only feed. Yesterday she got the cal mag shot.
I’m assuming since he’s so old and a lot of the spots will not clear up it’s going to be kind of hard to determine if she’s looking better or not. Personally I can’t tell a difference.
I took some pictures of her after I fed her this morning… I’m assuming the Cal mag’s going to kick in apparent change in her appearance should show in the next couple of days I’d say. correct?
Also like I said a few posts to go, if you look above at her deficiency it seems to be mostly the leaves coming out of her butts are yellow green and brown spotted.
The “Big Girl” is actually starting to do the same thing on a few of her buds. I’m sure it’s coincidental, but the buds that are starting to do it are the ones that are right next to the yellow girl. Almost like it’s a virus and she gave it to the buds right next to her on big girl as big girl doesn’t have it anywhere else but next to her where she’s touching her buds.
I’m sure it’s coincidental. (Big girl below)
You won’t really see an improvement in the leaves that are damaged already, but what you’re looking for is that it doesn’t progress further. I usually start backing off a little bit on the EC about 3 weeks or so before my estimated chop down day. If you don’t see the leaf issue getting worse in the coming days, you might want to stop with the calmag and just go with base nutrients and and some Big Bud…
@Cap_Ron
Big girl is like 75 days old. I’ve got a couple of days worth of feed left for her on the 800 mark. Since I did see that burnt & yellow on her buds leaves I also made a special feed for tomorrow morning with Cal mag in it. (150ec worth)
I wouldn’t think she could go much more than 90 days. I have no idea. Being shes 75, at least 15 more days. What should I back her out to on her feeds?
I have the gigantic 30 times magnification glass. Like I said I’m almost legally blind so to try cones are just some little object that I think I might see I’m not even sure so I’m not even worried about the trichomes. I know it’s important but I’m sure they’re there. If she’s not good by 90 days she’ll never be good.,
As for the other girl, I’ll keep my eye on her even though she looks done she wasn’t born until July 5th she’s got a long way away (unless for us some ungodly reason she super matured)
Doesn’t look like much fun trying to diagnose them at such a late stage as most of it could be total normal aging.
Usually 14 weeks (98 days) is the longest my autos take, but occasionally I’ll have a stubborn girl or two who go 15 weeks or even a bit more. There is another option for looking at trichomes that might work better for you. They make mini magnifiers that clip right over your cell phone. You center it right over the camera lens on the back of your phone, and then your camera is taking pictures through the magnifier. Once you get the pics, you can then blow them up bigger.
This is what it looks like.
With only a few weeks to go, I’d probably start cutting back on the big girls feedings anytime now. After the feeding you’ve already mixed, I’d go with base nutrients, Big Bud, and Bud Candy. I usually stop calmag for the last couple of weeks unless I’m in straight coco.
@Cap_Ron
I called my son over last night. He can see the trichomes good he said. (I can tell they’re there I just can’t distinguish)
So for an ounce of weed he’ll be my trichome monitor technician.
All clear no milky yet on the big girl…
If anybody’s going to push the 100 day Mark it’s big girl.
Just because the big girl has never had a calmag shot ever and I seen that spotting yellow leaves coming out of her buds, she got a tiny 100ec shoot chased by a full base nutrient plus big bud feed this morning. Just so she gets full clean bill of health.
You’re correct she’s got two days left of feed. It’s 800 EC base nutrients, big bud X2, bud candy, B-52, and a shot of seaweed kelp extract.
If I’m understanding you correct, after the next two feeds she’s going to take base and Bud only all the way through to harvest at 800 EC?
Thanks for taking the extra effort with her (and me) she’s come a long way. No sickness just pure pushing and pushing. She’s a superstar. I’ll definitely have a hard time cutting her down. She has a very serious attachment in my heart.
I’d say if you’re going in around 800EC now, I’d keep it the same until the last couple of weeks. So in the 2nd to last week, I’d lower it to around 600EC with just base nutrients, Big Bud, and Bud Candy. Then for the final week I’d either use Flawless Finish or just plain water is fine also.
There’s almost always going to be some minor leaf issues and discoloration in late flower growing in soil, at least for me there is. I’ve managed to get through straight coco grows without any of those issues, but in soil it seems like it’s almost impossible to avoid.
Happy Labor Day and happy growing!
Thank you brother Ron. So from now to Friday I’ll keep her as normal. The entire week next week she’ll get base and the two buds at 600 EC for that entire week. The following week I’ll give her straight water. That should bring us to right around 99 days. Last question since the water has nothing in it and the pH has nothing to stick to do I even attempt to pH the RO water just go straight in?
As long as it’s pure water (rain, R/O, distilled) just use it straight. Trying to adjust pH on pure water is very bad and will cause problems. When you use it straight it will take on the pH of the medium you’re adding it to.
10/4 Thank you. Happy Labor Day.
Going back through my early grown notes seems like I started to water/H20 to run off extremely early. I was watering to run off in like week 2 of the seed popping.
When growing in something like Fox farms Happy Frog when would you actually start H2O to run off?
When you’re simply using the nutrients from your soil like HF and you’re simply using H2O to activate it is it safe to just use tap water?
Personally I feed/water my seedlings more than most growers do. I see lots of people here who suggest only giving seedlings tiny amounts of water and to wait until they’re dry before doing it again. I feel my seedlings do better when I saturate them just like a bigger plant, but I use a syringe and go very slowly so I don’t uproot them with water moving down too fast. Also, I wouldn’t do it that way if I weren’t using soil with coco in it. Having the coco in there is a huge advantage when it comes to keeping the root zone oxygenated. I feed/water my seedlings to runoff from early on in the solo cup days.
As far as if you can use tap water, it depends on your tap water. For example, I most definitely could not use my tap water. It comes out with very high EC and ridiculously high pH. It would be a death sentence on seedlings. My water is from my local municipality because I live within the Village. I have a friend just a couple of miles up the mountain from me who grows and he has well water that’s perfect for growing. So a couple of miles apart, but totally different situations with tap water.
@Cap_Ron
Thank you for the explanation. I would have to first pull a water report before I ever considered using it. We have a high EC if I recall.
Yeah I pretty much started mine off with more water than I was supposed to. They loved it. I was watering to run off in 2 weeks. I think once I get 1 or 2 more grows in I’ll have a system that I’m confident with. That’s why I’m over excessive with notes. Thanks Ron! ![]()
@Lostgirl, it just occurred to me that there’s something I didn’t take into account regarding your EC numbers. I don’t think the difference would be significant at, if there’s any differenceat all, but sorry I didn’t think of it sooner. We’re both using Advanced Nutrients pH perfect products, but you’re using the 3 part base, and I’m using the Connoisseur line, which is 2 part veg and 2 part bloom. When I have a few minutes in the next couple of days I’ll look at the differences in the ingredients, it’s possible that I should have suggested a slightly higher EC.
When you run out of the 3 part, if you want to switch to the Connoisseur, it’s their most complete base nutrient, and the price difference is minimal. You would need 4 bottles instead of 3, but the veg A and B last a really long time because you use very little of it with autoflowers. The fresh soil keeps them fed for most of veg. By the time it’s depleted, you’re only going to use the veg nutes for a week or so and then it will be time to switch to Bloom A and B. I buy the Veg in 1 liter size, and I buy the Bloom in the 1 gallon size, and I go through 3 or 4 of the 1 gallon Blooms before I finish one set of the Veg.
Do you mean for the cut back next week to 600 EC or do you mean the numbers have been wrong the entire time?
I’ll tell you the truth and I think you’ve seen it, I push the girls hard. I like to get up to 750EC - 800EC intake and I keep them there as long as I’m seeing runoffs between 925EC - 1100EC
I also try to keep everything a strong base nutrient and I go a little lighter on the additives until they get mid flower then I go heavier on big buds. The only thing that I use the schedule for is a baseline of what product to give them and what product to stop. I make my own numbers on feed by the EC rather than their recommended amounts. Just for the record I have never fed over 1/4 strength at any time whatsoever.
Seems like there’s an entire tent of happy plants so I’m doing something right. Theoretically I’ve taken everything that you ever taught me documented it, and as long as I understand it perfectly I use it daily. I understand how to feed them now but I’m sure my way and anybody else’s way is totally different.
I have no idea why i’m sitting here rambling on about nothing. LOL
I think I’m just simply a little delirious. I’ve been getting up every day at 4:00 a.m. and I can’t go back to sleep and I don’t go to bed till about 1:00 a.m.
Nevertheless, 10-4 on the base nutrient switch when I run out. I bought the 1 Ltr bottles of the ABC. If I had the guess there’s over half a bottle of each left. I’m sure I’ll be ready to switch after the next grow. It’s funny I was just sitting here looking for big buds for cheap but you can’t find that cuz it ain’t cheap
LOL I bought the 500 mil on this grow and I’m sure I’ll get through it but I’ll need it for the next grow I’m thinking just going ahead and getting them liter.
Good night Ron sorry to sit here and ramble on about nothing!
I was talking about prior to now, you should proceed as planned for lowering things towards the end. It might amount to nothing, especially because you’ve been pushing them. I was just thinking that with a different line of nutrients I shouldn’t have assumed that the same amounts would be needed. Most likely there’s very little difference, but the 3 part line might have a bit less micro nutrients in it. Either way, I’ll research it today and let you know for sure.
I have the same problem with sleeping. I always wake up too early and can’t get back to sleep.
@Cap_Ron
Ok, thank you.
@Cap_Ron
I’m going to start calling you Doctor Auto flower.
Yellow girl has made a 360 she’s got her nice green color back I pushed her 25 EC per feed she’s up to 712 EC as of this morning
I’ll push her to 725EC on our next feed. This morning’s feed I put her back on her regular eating schedule as well with some additives making the majority still base.
Also gave her a surprise piss test this morning. She tested positive having marijuana in her system ![]()
Lol, good news on her feeling better and passing her test!
There’s a Dr Autoflower doing videos on YouTube, but he’s a freaking YouTurd in my opinion, lol. Years ago I was searching for someone to follow to learn about autos, but all I found were idiots on YouTube!
