Grow light question and setup

I have a 4x3 tent and when I got it the guy threw in some lights. I just picked up a ac infinity ionframe evo4 300w from a buddy. I have 4 autos going right now. How would you guys use these lights and which ones? The other ones are 2 mars hydro ts 1000’s 150w and a vivosun wing with fan in the middle at 200w. I want to get the most from these and learn for a few before I go out and upgrade. Thanks for any advice!

a 4x3 tent is 12 sq. ft, at 40w per sq. ft, you will need 480w. I think you got plenty of light.

Some people were saying just use the 300w? You say 480w, should I use the 300w and the 200w together? The 2 150 watt I am just gonna save and use and a backup. I will store the 200w also but ifbit will help I will use it?

I use 200w per plant but if growing multiple, then you can use the sq. ft. standard I offered. 35-40w per sq ft of tent space.

Total overkill but I run 800 wats in a 55x28x80 inch tent. 200 watts per plant.

I run one 240 watt light at 80% for each plant (4).

I run 2200 watts for 16 plants :rofl::rofl::rofl: my electric coop loves me

Evo 4 not big enough by itself to get every potential gram out of a 3x4 canopy. There’s other things to consider though too. Running more light is going to run your tent warmer and probably require more fertilizer and more frequent watering too. It may make more sense over summer months to run a little underpowered and have a nice efficient grow as opposed to hitting plants hard with light and fighting temperatures.

Agree with @Bonjoyle and would recommend the 40 watt per sqft approach. That ACI is actually 280 watts and I run 2 of these in a 3’ x 4’. I would agree if you had 2 plants with only running the ACI EVO but 4 plants will need more lighting or the bud development will be disappointing :love_you_gesture:

I should also say I have these outside everyday the weather allows me to. They are actually outside getting sun more than under the light. I bring them in every night though and put them under for a couple more hours before they go nite nite. Then out in the sun at 6am again.

That’ll work until they start flowering Growmie :love_you_gesture:

What the sun wont work after that? Or will I not be able to move them after they flower?

Moving them back indoors would be difficult depending on their size and the one light mentioned isn’t enough. I would leave them outside during the flower stage :love_you_gesture:

Cant i just add a light when they flip and keep them inside?

Sure, why not just add the light now and keep them inside? Outdoors you run the risk of pest and possibly WPM and bud rot from high humidity :love_you_gesture:

Thats why i was asking originally. I would prefer not to move them everyday

Well said man. I agree overkill is not the best way to go to get solid plants.

That is the route I would go. Use the 2 most efficient lights and get to 500w. Plenty for a 4x4 footprint. As @dbrn32 said you will have less heat, rh will be easier to control, less water. An efficient canopy that intercepts all the downward light can use a little less. Less wasted to floor. Just my thoughts.

Watch hitchhikers from outside. Once inside and infest hard to get rid of at times.

I have that ac infinity 4x3 tent buts its 2n1 tent. Basically a 3x3 with a separate walled off 3x1 seedling room. I just keep the velcro wall out and make it a 4x3, which fits perfect in my space. I just use the 3x3 space now but when they get a little bigger the space will help. I am gonna add the Vivosun 200w on the end to supplement and call it good. This way I dont have to haul back and forth outside all the time. They will just stay in tent. I just figured the sun was always better for them.
