Thinking of purchasing this grow light

Going to get a 4x4 tent from ac infinity would this grow light be a great choice n cover the lighting for the tent to cover full growth

I can’t speak from personal experience because I have built all of my lights. That said, I have never heard anything bad about HLG lights.

The light you have selected would be good in a 4X4 although at low end of what I would want. It looks like about 37 watts per square foot.

@merlin44 what would you suggest to be a great choice i have never tried to build one myself

I am not up on the latest light offerings. I have never purchased a retail fixture. Building your own is not as much of a benefit as it was a few years ago. It is a small savings if you have the skills that are needed.

As far as a great light…I suspect the most folks would say that the HLG light that you have is a great light for that space. Even with efficient LED’s I run 45 - 50 watts per square foot.

I think that many folks are targeting 35 - 40 watts per square foot which would put the HLG light that you have selected in the middle of that range.

A 720 - 800 watt light that will fit in the 4X4 footprint would be great in my opinion.

I will tag in @dbrn32 because he is usually up to speed on current offerings.

We had a grower using 1 or 2 of them, here on the forum. Awesome buds. I believe he said it got pretty hot, though.

Spec’ing out and selecting your components can be a bit intimidating. Be patient and rely on the advice of those that have walked before you.

Cant go wrong with that choice.

I honestly could not tell ya. I went and scrolled thru but he has a couple journals with a lot of posts. Check out @SilvaBack203’s stuff. Hasn’t been around for a while, but has some good tidbits in there.

All indoor growers running high wattage lights must deal with scrubbing heat. Exhaust fans are often times enough to control temperature. I also run an A/C unit it the temperature gets to 90 F. The A/C doesn’t come on very often unless the dehumidifier is running. The dehumidifier doesn’t come on very often either.

The short answer is that an adequately sized exhaust fan is usually enough.

You will save a lot of money by doing the way you are. I jumped in while fully ignorant. You will be really happy with your grow operation using this approach.

Control the lungroom control the tent. Strong adjustable exhaust fan above lights. Passive air intake bottom. Lung room at a comfy level. 70° will translate to 77 or 78 in tent with strong air exchange. Can actually freeze them out with lights wide open. In winter can let room be 65 and slow exchange for tent will net 75-80°.
I fought my climate a while. After just making my lung room my priority for climate the tents fell right in line. R/h no. That i adjust as can with fan speeds and a small temp rise at slower exhaust. Sorta like overclocking a GPU.
Just how I make it stress free and stable using minimal equipment.

@Storm what do you mean when you say lung room is that the room where you setup in

The blackbird is a great light. It is an older model, so maybe not quite as efficient or have the light output as an equally powered new model. But still a very good light for a 4x4.
