Tent Setup (Lighting)

I recently purchased a 4x2 tent that came with a 200w light. I was concerned about that but was assured that it would be sufficient. My light meter shows that the sides of the tent are only getting about 3/4 on the intensity in the middle. I just ordered a 100w AC Infinity Ionboard S22 to augment what I already have. It’s still only 38.5w/sq ft but it’s the most I could afford right now. Do you guys think this will be enough to grow decent buds we with? I’m not a first time grower, just used to using HPS & MH Lights, new to LED’s. I took about 10 years off from growing and everything seems to have changed. Sometimes I feel like a newbie again. Thanks guys! :green_heart:

morning @OldManMike …if those are quality full spectrum LED then you should be successful with 38w/sqft…

Good morning, the original light is a Vivosun AeroWing if you’re familiar with those.

no not familiar and haven’t seen a post about them either … should be a good first light for you to learn how to grow inside…

I run three visosun areo light 100s in my 4x2x5’. Started with 2 and seemed like a lot of shadows. I feel the extra light was worth it.

On my 4x2x6’ ACI I run the Evo 3 from ACI. I love it. Wish I’d started with it.

I"m not new to indoor growing, just LED’s, they don’t seem to equate to HPS or MH. It took me forever to hang what I have at the right height. When I grew before, we didn’t know anything about VPD, PPFD… etc. I think I was lucky to start in New Mexico. That was in 2001. Thanks for your help,!

I wish I would have done that too. I bought it as a VivoSun “kit”. I’ve already got an AC Infinity circulation fan & T3 humidifier. They looked like better quality than Vivosun for the same price. When I bought the new light, I also got one of their controllers. Now I’ll have two. Should be interesting :green_heart:

Maybe my light thread will help

@OldManMike You will enjoy the ACI controller. I had to buy a dongle to run visosun lights on ACI controller.

The Evo three has 301h diodes verse 301b in visosun.

I’m going to check out @Low guide.

My goal is more even canopy management. Equal light to each top.

That’ll get the job done Grow Bro. Welcome back and to the Grow Fam :love_you_gesture:

Shape counts. Square in a rectangle tends to give bad edges. I alway ran 2 till got my ESv2. Shaped for a 2x4. Can go 2 square lights and dial them in even for each side.
Here are 2 in a 3x3. 300w each.

Im running a 200w main light with samsung 301h diodes and 72w of additional cheap Amazon lights to help the sides in my 2x4 and im happy(for now).

Its kind of a rigged set up but if i get 4 oz. from a 2 1/2 ft plant i think thats pretty good. 2 plants just mean the buddies get some. Only my 2nd grow in the tent but we’re getting diled in.

AC Infinity told me that I would only have limited dimming capability. Is that true? If so, the only pàrt attached to the VivoSun controller would be the inline fan. Cool!

@OldManMike When I did mine I was in flower. So I had lights maxed. Seems like I remembered it dimming though when first set up. I didn’t check ppfd or anything till lights were maxed and height set for flower. I got my Evo light and the visosun lights went back to the visosun tent. Didn’t run a seed/germ cycle with visosun lights hooked to ACI controller. So not sure if that helps any or not.

I did same thing you are doing. Even after reading tons of stuff. :joy: Only good thing is I ended up with two more complete tents than what my wife and I talked about.
