First… Welcome to the community.

The issue I had with starting out was making the financial mistake in buying cheap rather than doing all the homework and figure out a budget. Then after replacing stuff, I still have the old stuff laying around.

Your one step better than me so far.

If you intend on growing in the future, I would recommend getting a good light… That and good genetics makes a huge difference on a grows success.

I have a hlg 350R it works perfectly In a 2x4 tent, will get you through the entire grow… And there’s room for an additional plant once you desire.

I second @dirtydave on AC Infinity…

I had a couple vivosun tents and other equipment… Got rid of it all to get AC Infinity. Great stuff.

I had a 2x2x5 tried two autos and ran out of room once they started flowering. I ended up getting a 2x3x6 AC infinity. I would ether go with the 2x3 or 2x4. Here’s a picture of two autos in the 2x2 vs the 2x3. Hope this helps.

Beautiful girls! Definitely gives me more of an idea of space wise… with wanting to eventually do 2plants at one time i can see the 2x2 potentially not having ebough space. Depending on the plant types(most likely). I think id rather get a bit larger just to make sure i have the proper spacing. Thanks for the share/input!

You’ll want a taller tent even if going for 2x2. Buying a kit makes it easy, but you’ll probably replace everything in the kit by the time all is said and done. The best thing to do is make yourself a short list of your priorities and then buy each component with these priorities and your budget in mind. For example, if you want to maximize harvest potential in your tent, you’ll need a lot of light. But if you’re more interested in just learning how to grow and not concerned with your harvest weight you can save a little money here. If you need a very quiet exhaust fan or a really good carbon filter these will cost more than something that simply does the job.

Last i looked you could set up a 2x2x6 with pretty reasonable equipment for $130 tent, $150 light, $120 exhaust fan, $50 carbon filter, $50 circulating fan. From there you’ll need a few tools and it makes sense to buy a middle of the line ph tester but you can get away with cheap tds tester and trimming shears to start with. Everything else is pretty much consumables and will need to replaced often anyway. So buying “cheap” pots, growing media, nutrients isn’t a big deal to get started as you’ll be planning to replace anyway.

Your point is well noted and agreed with, but this tent is half empty. This is a long way from being out of room. Out of room looks like below.

Input noted! Honeslty not to worried about yeild vs the plants actually growing and producing good smokeable bud. (Dont know if that contradicts itself or not? ) maybe quality>quantity? When it comes to the led lights i have to read extra into because honestly it confuses me and makes it hard for me to figure what will and wont work for my autos

If you have enough light intensity to get “good smokable bud”, it is likely that you will get good yields as well.

@dbrn32 has you covered…use the approach that he outlined and you will be on your way to your first successful grow.

I totally agree there is still some room, I ran out of room vertically since the 2x2 is only 5ft tall. I couldn’t get the lights more than 6in above the tops. I really like the 2x3. You could stack em in there.

You’ve got a tent full for sure.

With a nice setup (@dbrn32 is a great resource for that) and good genetics (ILGM can help with that), you can pull the trigger and have your first harvest in 3 or 4 months.

If you have been purchasing top shelf buds, you will easily recover the cost of your grow equipment in a grow or two. That was true for me at least.

I’m with the other commenters. Buy once, cry once. Everything cheap that I bought to save money has been replaced or will be replaced. Getting quality products when you start will end up saving you money. If I was starting over I’d go with AC Infinity or Gorilla Grow tent, AC Infinity exhaust and fans and an HLG light.
