Hey yall I just wanted to update you guys on my grow situation  I was wanting on a letter with a date for apartment inspection before dropping my beans BUT!!! My property manager was just here on another matter and I got to visit with her, long story short she will not be here for another month or more!!! Holly shit this put a wrench :wrench: in the works :face_with_raised_eyebrow: what to do? Well I do have 3 places I can hide plants (which I have done before) only thing is the the hights of the plant, I can hide a 4 week old plant, but they take a big growth spurt because I flip around then so I need to time it right. :+1: But I am confident I can start my seeds next week and I will be just fine :slightly_smiling_face: this is a time I depend on this forum lol I can look back on past grows since I get such constant results plus or minus a bit, I am sure as possible, with weed nothing is certain lol  Wednesday and Thursday are the days I have time so I will shoot for then. Anyway you guys thanks for following along with this grow and I promise I will get started soon  hope everyone has a great weekend happy growing yall till next time  thanks for your patience

NEWSFLASH YALL I DROPPED MY BEANS  So here’s what I start with 4 3gal plastic pots and filled with Miracle grow potting mix Dry! (the feeds for 6 months stuff) 4 seeds of course and this tool from my chest a 16oz cup

One of the problems I have with most peoples explanations starting their grows they do not explain whether they PRE MOISTEN their medium. Some people pre moisten the whole pot, then there is a possibility of what I do, wetting the medium ahead of the roots going by the size of the plant (as above so below) as you know the tap root shoots straight down, and it grows very fast, inches in days and that tap root also puts out feeder roots around the the plant close to the top of the medium as far as the leafs reach or drip line. So I pre moisten depth into the medium as the plant is tall and as wide as the leafs reach around the plant. As the plant gets taller use more water around the stalk to assure deeper medium gets damp, and only as wide as the leafs, my purpose is to leave the outer edge and the medium below is still DRY.
Okay as yall well known that mgpm is a hot :fire: medium and people burn their seedlings in this material, well I prevent this in a couple ways
#1 in my opinion roots do not search out for moisture in dry medium, dry medium is a block, stopping the roots if moisture is too far away, by pouring around the seedings and out gives the roots the moisture they need and they reach out into the moist medium to the dry. And if I allow my medium to dry out a couple days in between watering the medium doesn’t stay wet enough to get stem rot, no worries :+1:
#2 By only wetting the medium that the plant needs for its root zone as per the size of the plant, ie one 16oz cup of water wets the medium about the same as the cup size, about 3’ or 4’ around and about 5 or 6 inches deep and dry medium around and under which evaporates excess moisture, so I can not over water. The only time released nutes that are activating are the ones in the moist root zone, therefore can’t burn seedlings!!! And as I wet more medium the plant gets use to the increasing nutes as it gets bigger.
#3 By having dry medium around and below keeps me from over Watering, because that dry area keeps suckin the extra moisture outwards. Until the roots start showing in the bottom holes and I start watering to run off.
#4 I NEVER allow my root zone to dry out!!! The roots get plenty of oxygen from drying for a couple days, and if there is available moisture carrying nutes all is good, but if you dry out the nutes are concentrated and burn seedlings imo. I feel people burn their seedlings chasing a wet dry cycle and going to far. That of course is my reasoning, after seeing so many posts seems obvious to me. Like I said with a medium that drains well also allows oxygen to permeate to the roots, plants planted in the ground get enough oxygen just from surface roots, dry roots wither and plants stress, sorry for getting on my soap box… a good thing taken to far can be a problem

Today I put a 1/2 inch hole in the middle of the pot and drop the seed in and fill in the hole, then very carefully take a 16oz cup of tap water (set out 24 hours) and pour in circles around the seed (as not to upset the seed) until the 16oz cup is empty. Now the medium is damp for the needs of a seedling for the first week, except I put a few drops of water as needed to keep the seeds from ever drying out till pop, damp!!! Not soggy. Should see movement in 3 days or so  that is as simple as it could be, I must say that this is not just for miracle grow potting mix but can be duplicated with other well draining mediums imo. As you can see the size of the circles I poured my water into. And for now I have one HLG 100 4000K veg board above them at 15 inches. Here’s the closet today

Hope you guys are having a good weekend and everyone is growing happily
Till next time

Good afternoon yall well I have one all the way up today, it is LA Ultra

And pineapple express auto and super skunk are little white elbows poking out of the dirt  so tomorrow looks like day 1 :+1: there is movement by gold leaf, there is a white elbow deeper so all four are alive. I know I have 4  that makes me feel great, once they are above dirt I know what to do but waiting for them to pop is agonizing!!!

Oh happy days yall they are alive ha ha Hopefully everyone is having a great week. All good here :ok_hand: happy growing yall

WOW super skunk was born with the absolute worst helmet head I have ever seen!!! This seed shell was clamped on tight but after wetting it good and the help of two tooth picks I got shell off  look how tight :pinching_hand: this would have killed her without surgery and sooner the better she will recover quickly

And pineapple express auto looks thick and healthy  tomorrow all these should be standing tall and green

Gold leaf is behind the others but is coming along, this is the hardest part for me, I feel helpless till they are up and becoming plants  but I have become pretty good at removing helmet head as I bury a 1/2 inch and cover with just peat moss, its not very good at pulling the shells off, so I get at least 1 every grow lol. Things are looking good for this grow, see where we are tomorrow :call_me_hand::wink:
