Hello everyone and welcome to my Simple grow #22 I have been here documenting my grows here since 2020, 5 years but been growing 8 years. I have been doing the same thing, same nutes and miracle grow potting mix, but I have been learning from the fine people here on this forum and fine tuning this hobby of mine I grow in my closet and simple to me is, lights, fans, nutes and water. I plant the seeds 1/2" to 3/4"and I water it and I have a 98% success rate of germination, I have had a couple plants that had genetic issues, so I start 4 seeds and keep the best 3 after a couple weeks, donate 4th to a buddy to grow out
I have a lot of xsplanin to do but here we go
I start off with 4 16 quart bags of miracle grow potting mix, takes 3 1/2 bags. But because miracle grow potting mix is different crazy bad from bag to bag, to get uniform ppms from each pot I empty one bag splitting evenly into 4, 3 gallon plastic pots
Then evenly emptying all 3 1/2 bags filling the pots. Now each pot has the same soil. Now my technique to germinate is simple, I poke a hole in the middle of the pot 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch deep, drop in a seed, carefully bury. Now something most people don’t say is whether they PRE MOISTEN their medium around and below the seed

I hung one of my hlg 100w veg spectrum boards at 15 inches above the top of the pots and timer is set 18/6 And I will only add small amounts of water to be sure the seed never dries out, but I am careful not to drowned them so I may dampen once a day a tablespoon or two. I will not need to add anything more for a week. Medium is primed to handle a week old seedling. Nothing to do but wait.
Over the next couple days I will lay out how and why I do things here, I do 3 grows a year, each has to be done by 17 weeks, there is no time to waste, each phase of the plant development has to go on time. I don’t fool around, the clock is starting.
I do a modified version of hydro and I never allow my root zone to dry out, breathe YES, dry no, this is like a flood and drain system only allowing for the drainage ability of my potting mix. This is just original miracle grow potting mix, and they have a dozen different types of soil and potting mixs so as not to be mistaken. Anyway it is made of a mixture of forest products (wood chips and shavings) peat moss and sphagnum moss, coir, and perlite, there is NO soil component such as compost or leaf litter or dirt, it is a good draining medium like coco but don’t have to water quite as often.
Okay you may think it is wetting too much but understand that there is dry soil in the rest of the pot and so there cannot be excess moisture to drown the roots Another thing to consider is Oxygen is invasive and gets into every crack and crevice so the plants can get enough oxygen to grow healthy with just the surface roots they put out, plants that grow in the wild don’t have air pumps and bubblers to their roots and they do just fine
I don’t disagree that extra oxygen helps, but it has to be done right, because excess oxygen is detrimental to a plants roots if done wrong!!! My root ball will have roots around the outside edge of the pots and roots on bottom and they are in contact with air and the soil is moist so safe for the roots to breathe, when I water I take all the standing water in run off tray out, never allow them to sit in run off water.
Okay I know miracle grow potting mix has 6 months of time released nutes, and believe me it doesn’t have adverse effects on my grows at all, it is something I do have to address throughout my grow. High ppms are possible with mgpm and if watering properly will not hurt a young seedling, so I take precautions by only watering to the size of the plant, if I wet the whole pot I’d be activating all the time released nutes at once and can overload a young one, but if I only wet where the roots are I am only activating the nutrients in the damp area therefore keeping nute load low…
I mentioned watering to the size of the plant, well for next couple weeks, I will be wetting the root zone every few days by the size of the plant, as above so below, wetting as deep as the plant is tall and wider than the leaf drip line around the plant. I cannot over water when there is dry soil around and below the plant.
Here is my lineup for this grow
Apple fritter from ilgm, a 50/50 ind/sat and a possible thc of 32%
Master kush from ilgm, a 90% indica and a possible thc of 24%
Mandarin sunset from Ethos genetics, a 60 to 65% indica and a possible thc of 24%
LA Ultra from Resin seeds a 80% indica with a possible thc of 19 to 23%
I am popping 2 newer seeds AF, and Master kush and 2 older seeds LA Ultra and Mandarin sunset with hopes that 3 will be healthy.
Okay guys that is where I am today and all is well here I will be tagging all of the people who showed interest in my last grow, I hope I didn’t miss any of you
Till next time happy growing yall
