Bought a hlg scorpion diablo x will that be too much light for the 4x4 grow tent
It has a dimmer.
Carry on.
Make a ppfd map and post it. Like to see how flat it is.
So long as it fits inside the tent and it has a dimmer, no problemo…
The reason I ask was told by someone that light is too much for a 4x4 n it doesn’t matter what I set the dimmer to its just going to burn the plants up will be my first setup I’m not sure that’s why i come here
@dbrn32 do you have a suggestion for me on this or what do you think
While you wait here is my opinion. I have an ac infinity EVO 8 in a 4x4. I believe similar wattage as compared to yours. The light is wall to wall in my tent. It is a strong light for that area, but definitely doable. I get to about 6 of 10 on the controller about 2 ft above canopy at peak flower.
You adjust the light to the stage of your plant. The light you have is adjustable.
Okay thanks for the info
This is nonsense. It’s more light than you need but the output is controllable. If I’m not mistaken this fixture will dim to zero so you don’t need to worry about that.
Okay thanks i appreciate the info light and tent coming this week one more?Does the ac infinity set up pair with the hlg lights or do you have to do some wiring to run it together
I’m not sure what you got from AC Infinity? If you’re talking about a controller I’m not sure as I keep my stuff simple. Just old school analog timer for me and I run my AC Infinity fans in manual.
I’m getting the full 4x4 tent kit comes with the 400 watt light but i bought the hlg scorpion diablo x light to replace the other light
Gotcha. I’m sure someone here has made it work. Here is link for threads involving controller 69. I would help more if I could.

Okay thanks a lot appreciate it will check it out you all are awesome
I run HLG and also have controller 69pros. There is an adapter cable you can get from ACI that will plug into the HLGs dimmer i believe. I havent done it personally yet. As far as your light… it is 100% not too much for your area as long as you dim it down. I have the Blackbird, 600r, and 350r in the bus at full blast and im in a 12x8…
That Scorpion Diablo looks like a beast to me!! So you may only run it at 70% or whatever in full flower? Who cares? Better to have extra you don’t use than too little. The 650 watt light I’m using in my 4x4 might be slight overkill, I’m not worried. In fact, I chose it because it barely fits and will give even light coverage to the canopy vs smaller lights. My only concern is apps for my phone is all I have to measure PAR, and that might not be the most accurate way. However, the phone app combined with watching how the plants respond will just have to do.
I had 2 acorpion diablos in a 4x8 dim it youll be fine. Justbdont crank it all the way
Okay thanks im feeling really good about it now since I talked with you all really appreciate the help n knowledge
640 watts of quality lighting for that 16’ footprint is optimum Grow Bro
16 x 40 = 640… Imagine that. Perfection!!
How is you light controlled?
Do you have the AC-Infinity Cloudline controller?
Potentiometer, UIS, or other?
RJ11/12 0-10VDC can replace the manual knob using
From HLG this is available
- Over 2100 PPF output with photon efficacy of 3 µmol/J
- 640 watts x3umols =above 1900
*On 12/12 it maxes at above 80 DLI
Awesome light for use and expansion.
Good growing to you.
