How long have you been doing bonsai trees? I know I may have asked that before but my memory does not run on all or its cylinders,lol. I have always wanted a weeping willow bonsai tree. But you know what I found? It is almost impossible to find a small willow tree to start. I suppose now I could try cloning one from an established tree. But back then I was inexperienced, and I cant tell you how many weeks I would go looking for a tree. We have a huge wildlife refuge where I grew up, and I searched a lot of it. Also we have a river that runs through town as well. Lots of great habitat for willows, but I couldn’t find any small trees, or seeds from adult trees. I am gonna start a grow soon and may ask for some training advice. Have a good one sir! Peace
I don’t really concentrate specifically on bonsais, every now and then you’ll see me growing one or two, just for shits and giggles. I also normally do them in 3 gal pots …this time I thought to combine the solo and bonsai, so I had to add wiring to direct the branches …my oldest bonsai is a ficus retusa at about 14 years ( if my memory serves correctly ) …
I have done some bigger plants like jade and half humans as well …

@Arrow I have a question about my plants. I topped two of them and left the other two do there thing. But the two I left do there thing are growing tall and I don’t want them over my deck railing can I bend them over now they are in flower or should I leave them alone
If I let them go I’m going to need to build a backstop up on my railing

Yeah it’s legal here I just can’t have the street on the backside of my house seeing them. In the state of Virginia I can grow the four plants they just can not be seen from a public street
same here in mich, typical of folks, yea, we’ll make it legal, but you have to hide in a closet lol
I just don’t want them to take my plants. After all this work I have put into them. That would make me very unhappy!! These are my babies I go out every morning and every afternoon to check on them. The leafhoppers don’t like me.
