Are autos really faster than photos?

I’ve read conflicting things on if autos are truly faster than photos… what are your experiences?

Not necessarily. All cannabis plants become sexually mature some time between 4 and 7 weeks of age, though there are some exceptions. All are capable of flowering at the time the plant becomes sexually mature. An auto will automatically flower once it is matured. A photo has to be flipped to 12/12 to flower, so if you want a photo to flower as early as an auto, then just change the light schedule as soon as it becomes sexually mature. Flowers on both autos and photos take 8 to 10 weeks to ripen for harvest.

Its conflicting because there is no set time for either type of plant to mature.
After growing enough plants you find each one has its own built in timing. Like Midwestguy says the photoperiod type need to have the lighting times switched to 12/12 to start flowering, but the length of time after that can vary. I grew a particular Granddaddy Purple that was done in 7 weeks after flipping the lighting schedule. Likewise I grew a Northern Lights autoflower that took over 14 weeks in flower to get close and I finally just chopped it down. Each single plant an be different.
