Auto plants v photo

Hey,
Up until this point I’ve only tried my hand at auto plants - without much success. I decided to try growing a ww photo. Well, the difference in growth & speed in which this plant has grown blows me away! It grows an inch a day whilst the auto’ I’ve had seems to stand still. I don’t think I’ll try autos again.
So do photos generally grow quicker than autos or do I just suck at growing them?
Cheers

Autos are definitely different beasts I get about an inch a day starting week 4-5 but they definitely need near perfect conditions and if you screw them up they tend to be tempermental , photos you can take your time and you’ll probably be safe since you control the flip , but quite frankly nothing beats how fast autos finish flowering( usually 5 weeks for me)

Hi and thanks for sharing your experience.
I will attach an auto & photo pic at same age. The difference is amazing. It’s made for a much more interesting grow watching the photo. i have a small auto just starting to flower so will watch with interest

I find the growth rate to be about the same honestly. Some plants are faster than others but across a bunch of each I don’t really notice a difference. However, I can’t stand how autos just flower when they want. Id rather have the control. I have also found that the bud is of a better quality from my photos. Just my experience.

Thanks guys,
Maybe when I get a bit more experience with growing, I’ll give autos another try, but right now it’s photos all the way for me.
Cheers

@GreenSnek what photos are flowering that fast for you?

That’s what I’m saying no photos finish that fast while that’s pretty normal for autos

@GreenSnek I guess I am shooting for like 9 weeks from seed so I’m not that far off.

i love autos. i grow autos and photos together. now i see the difference in yield. i am only doing photos after these until i have enough stashed that yield doesnt matter. its just fun to grow plants that do what they want.

Autos can be a little finicky, photos are more forgiving. Just my thoughts good luck with your new venture.
Nice plants

@Jorad. This is my first grow and I have 5 photos. It is has been great being able to hold off flipping as I correct nutrient issues etc. based on the most excellent advice of all the growers here!

Hi and thanks everyone for your opinions.
I like the idea of more control as to when to begin flowering and also to experiment with traing, topping etc… Autos might be a future endeavour for me. I’ll wait til I have some jars full of bud then try again.
Cheers everyone

this white widow photo ( 4 days later ) from above pic is exploding! It must be an easy strain to grow if I can do this!

5 days actually

Looking dam good and don’t forget all seeds grow at a different rate especially of different gene lines bottom right is the youngest and top right had a dead first fan leaf (all autos in 5 gallon grown organically) will they be even 2 feet tall nope but my style keeps node spacing tight

Thanks mate,
Considering your growing style, how much do you average per plant?
Here is my auto gorilla glue, about a week and a half old.

For my 1st grow 3 oz per plant but I’m betting I can get that up to 4 in spring when i can get my humidity above 45%

I grow mostly autos in my greenhouse with absolutely no issues. Tried some WW Photos and they out grew the greenhouse, over 9’ tall.
