Hey Forum Friends. So here I go. Please don’t think me a big dummy. I have a SLH that is currently where it should be at the end of its flowering stage but it is already several days past the others I grew with it and while she is tall, she is also very bare and spindly with super weak branches. However, I broke off a small piece back at the beginning of its veg state and that Clone produced 3.5 ounces of what should be pretty good pot, was very full and very sturdy. So… I thought if it isn’t too late I could maybe send that Clones Mother, the spindly one, back to veg and start using her as a mother plant. Can I do this?
If it has finished flowering it might be too far gone to be able to reveg, however you could try taking a couple of cuttings without flowers and see if you can clone them. Have them under 18 hours of light per day and see what happens. If the cuttings are able to reveg then keep one of them for a mother plant.
If the plant still has a few weeks before it finishes flowering then you might be able to reveg it.
I have read about people reveging a plant after it has finished flowering but don’t know how true the stories are because the females tend to die after flowering. Others on here might have a bit more info about their experiences and should be on over the next few days, maybe sooner.
Well thanks Dude. She is, or should be done already but isn’t. Her Triches aren’t even starting to turn amber yet and the 4 others have been pulled at least a few days ago. I can try and reveg her instead. Maybe she would do better that way. I really like the SLH and she was my last seed for it. Didn’t think about it until last night. Thanks for the info.
Take a cutting as well. If the cutting strikes and the main plant doesn’t reveg, at least you will have another plant in the form of the cutting and you won’t lose that plant.
Experienced reveger here. They can take a long time to reveg if deep in flower and a larger plant. Pruning it back some first can help shorten the time, and you can try cloning the trims like suggested by Randy above. The bigger flowered plants can take 12 weeks reveg. That’s why most people give up on the process. You can do a whole run in that time you are reveging. Smaller plants (think clone sized) can reveg in 2-3 weeks. Like turning a canoe on a dime vs an aircraft carrier that needs tug boats and hours to dock.
One suggestion I disagree with is the lighting time. 18 hours is setting you up for a slower reveg and some won’t go or just Peter out like Randy suggested.
I am much more successful on reveg starting them on 22 or 24 on. Just the first 10-14 days. Then drop them to 18 on. My theory is they get the clear signal it’s time to veg. Wow let there be light. I used to think that 24on is bad, but not in this scenario. Good luck and I appreciate finding a keeper after the flower stage. I have been using reveg for 19 years at my current grow location and can attest that it is a real thing, even on late plants.
Males never reveg after blowing their load. That I have not been able to do in decades of trying. Been trying since 1980. Yes I clone and keep males too. lol
To elaborate, cutting back as many of the flowers and leaving the plants a few nodes (less flower material onboard the better) will immensely decrease the wait time for the reveg. The flower hormones overpower the veg hormones. Removing the flowers removed these hormones from the plant. I cannot prove it without lab work, but the effect is the same. Way faster reveg.
You are a solid member and been here a while. No question is dumb and I appreciate your participation.
Ok. So in your experience it is possible, just will take more time in this late stage.. but if I do almost a harvest on her by taking her flowers, switch back to the lowest Veg Week 3(?);Nutes. and put the light on her 24/10 days it might work out? Is that the gust of it?.
The buds on this plant aren’t even worth keeping, really. There MIGHT be an ounce on her if I were lucky. Yet her clone met her height quickly and filled in nice and thick. That made me think maybe her clones will thrive even though she hasn’t. Idk? That was my thinking.
And so here are Mother and Daughter as of the day I Harvested Daughter. I got 3.8oz out of this clone! Mother appears much more full than she is. You’ll note that I’ve had several zip ties just holding up her branches so they WOULDN’T break, and have splints on 4 that did break.
Very well said Sir
I have also done reveg and would more then agree with @noddykitty1 , only thing I would change personally is I like 24/4 for reveg treat it like an auto for the first 2-3 weeks until you start to see the single leaves starting then I drop to 20/8 for another 2 weeks until the 3 leaves start then it’s full on 18/6 until I switch to flower. And I drop back to week 2 veg feed until the 3 leaves start then it’s back to normal veg feed, as for mothering plant im not sure of nutrients feed I would think stay at week 3-4ish.
As they say a million ways to skin a cat but as long as you find the one that works for you stay at it. Lol
Well, ultimately I decided against it. I had to choose between reveg for a mother, which was iffy and takes a long time-and-trying a few late stage Clones. I chose the latter. I had to choose because of the different lighting needs between the two. The Clones would need 12/12 while the Mother would ultimately go back to 18/6. Different light times equalled 2 tents and I really just need a break after this last grow.
I have made screenshots of all of this for future reference. All you guys are full of valuable information from your own experiences and that experience is valuable. Thanks for sharing it with us all.
Here are some good examples of a full flower going into reveg. Plants in my garden today.
This was a sister clone, different plant. Notice the vegatative side shoot to the left.
Gosh. They look kinda weird, huh? But you’ve had mad success with them, so it’s all good. I kinda wish I’d tried it still, but I really do need a break. With all the watering I spent all my time doing just that. With it being Summertime I have outdoor projects that need done like hanging my siding I got to replace some that is rotting. Never done that before and once you pull down one sheet I’ve so far found that there tends to be more that needs done than just slapping up another sheet. So I definitely need the time for that. I think the cold months should be my grow months. Living this American Dream can be a Nightmare at times. Lol!
You made it clear you were not going to try it.
Hope you don’t mind I posted some examples. Since yours is the newest reveg thread. Plan to show how I reveg the the plants as I remove the buds and have them take off. Any day….hopefulky this weekend.
@noddykitty1 I really think that’s a fantastic idea that will give a guided how to with example pics of what to watch for.
Absolutely love this idea
Hey, I think it’s a great thing. Have at it. I’ve always found your words and experience to be very helpful in the past. I sure don’t wanna hog it all up to myself. Lol! Share! Share! Share away!
