#1. Are bud trimmers worth the money.
#2. If I am making eatables do I need to trim the bud Close or is leaving the small leaves on the bud ok.
Hi! Totally depends. If you don’t really care about the bag appeal, the machine saves really alot of time vs hand trimming. The buds will look a little fuzzy and one can probably see that ot’s machine trimmed.
The look only matters though if you’re selling it or showing off.
If you’re making butter or other infusions you can leave tge sugar leaves on the buds. I usually make butter from all trimming leftovers only.(everything that has tricomes visible, the bigger leaves I trim away during harvest).
That’s my 2 cents, I don’t own a trimming machine myself but I heard the big boys talking about it… happy trimming!
I absolutely love my trimmer. Saves so much time. I hardly hand trim anythinf since getting it
@Highgrow Which trimmer you have?
Subbed.
New grower and I have heard of this thing called trim jail and I thought it was a place you took weed to have prisoners trim your pot but it seems I am wrong.
I can only hope some day I will produce so much pot I need a trimmer so will follow for recommendations.
I purchased a 19 inch ac infinity trimming bowl because i i cant find a word strong enough to say how much i dislike hand trimming but after using it and seeing all the fines that came off the buds having second thoughts on using it again and afterwards it was so sticky with resin cleaning the grate and blades and bowl no easy task, but it saved me about 8 hrs of hand trimming a pound and a half. Mixed feelings but I’ll probably sacrifice quality of bud and use it again
@Highgrow do you have a picture of a bud you trimmed with that one?
This is a fair statement. I hate hand trimming as well. Doing like an ounce isnt so bad but still a tedious task nontheless. I turn it slow and a dozen or so both ways and get decent product. The slowler the turn the better imo. Some i dry trimmed last ish week
Nice, nice, nice and i may be overloading it a bit, hopefully I’ll be giving it another whirl in about 5 or 6 weeks. Getting close.
And i should have purchased the 16 inch, i think it may do a nicer job than the 19 inch
Trim jail must be where everyone goes that has to sit and hand trim i would guess, been there
I was overloading it at first. Took some playing around with it to find a balance.
They call it that because hand trimming takes a decent amount of time to complete lol
@Highgrow Nice! Those buds look very decent! The few ones I saw here looked like they went through a lawnmower… I think I might have to start thinking about getting one for next summer…
I just ordered the AC infinity 16” one…figured give it a try! Worst case scenario I’m out $100 and it goes in the box of gadgets I thought I needed but didn’t
Ok next question. This seems to be very hard on the visible tricomes. Does this leave useable kief in the bottom or is it to filled with veg
Lmao definitely not needed more of a preference. I have spent 8-10 hours trimming and i just refuse to do it again. I still will hand trim some here and there but most go in the bowl.
First part yes. 2nd part also yes but will depend on how fast ur turning them (dont be rough) everything that is collected in the bowl bottom is able to be collected and stored for making all sorts of stuff.
Ok I will admit I did no research yet on trimming pot. Now that I spent a little time most folks say an hour per ounce.
I am going to grow pot. I expect average yield of 1 g per watt.
I am not spending 10 hours trimming pot.
Let me know how this ACi bowl works out. $100 is worth not spending 10 hours of trimming.
1 hour per plant I average 4 ounces per plant. Sometimes more. Plus there is shake Sometimes an ounce Sometimes 2 ounces shake. That is 4 plants fore the shake. And 4 or 5 hours for hand trimming 4 plants 2 people trimming.
