from my knowledge you’re supposed to transplant when the leaves are almost touching the edges of your container. if not then the roots get tangled up.

Many people plant their seedlings in a clear plastic cup, and then insert that into an opaque one. That way you can pull the clear cup out and see how the roots are developed.

9 oz clear cups work well. root progress can be seen and another cup can be used as a humidity dome over the plant.
