Setting up for a spring grow. New tent, new light, and new 6” in line ventilation blower with charcoal filter. Question, is there any reason to mount the fan and filter assembly inside the tent horizontally or outside the tent vertically. I have plenty of ducting to do either. Just wondering.
Mounting exhaust fan in tent will help To baffle part of the sound if you worried about noise.
I put mine on the outside to save space in my tent. The more ducting and more bends you use the less efficient/effective your fan will be.
Pretty quiet fan, no problem. Basically, blow air out or suck air in. Any advantage one way or the other?
No real difference but blowing threw the filter it’s hard to rig up the pre filter I usually stuff mine inside and push it around evenly
That’s one of those ongoing debates. You’ll find a lot of people who do it either way. Just like everything in growing just do it however it works best for you.
I cut some furnace air filter and tape it around the end of the ducting. Easy pre filter.
Great idea
I cut up an old pre filter / sleeve when I replaced it with a new on.
Ideally you want an exhaust fan and an intake fan. Both of mine are outside the tent to save room. I use AC infinities and you cannot hear them. The fans inside my tent circulating air are what I hear.
Anyways, I stuff my carbon filter just inside the tent and then turn it 90 degrees so its tight to the tent wall. Everything else is outside the tent to give me the most room possible. I need to be able to suck my lights up all the way to the top the last few weeks of flower.
Intake into bottom and exhaust from top (heat rises).
AC infinitiy controler works great for AC-I products.
Fans in series = inefficient setup.
Anyone could outflow those setups by around 100% & while still using the same equipment, but by running those fans in parallel (side by side, not in series) as exhaust fans, (or simply by using one exhaust fan that is twice as powerful), but by providing them with enough intake area for max CFM.
For being inefficient there sure are ALOT of people who run their tents setup this way and produce incredible bud.
I run powered exhaust suck through filter mounted high.
Passive intake down low with a ac filter
Edit: also a 6" fan/filter for air scrubber if someone showing up to the shop
FTW. Can’t beat it.
Mine (fan & filter) was inside; I moved it outside to free vertical space. Only difference is the noise level is slightly higher; but, it is still not heard outside the room it’s in. I have passive air intake.
Thanks for all the input. I think for ease of setup I’ll go with outside the tent pulling passive air through. I have my HLG 350R hanging in the tent. It would get a little crowded up there.
Filter inside the tent pulls air through filter from outside, which has more surface area. Typically this way will do a better job of filtering for longer period of time.
I don’t blame you or them, I blame marketing. The same types who do everything to avoid publishing real ‘cfm vs. static-through-negative pressure’ numbers for their exhaust fans.
