Exhaust Fan Inside Tent or Out?

Hey all!!! Currently I have a 3x3 tent with intake and exhaust fans set up to help temperature and airflow. I’m pushing fresh air in the bottom and have an exhaust fan set up inside the tent pushing air out the top, but I’m curious if it makes any difference having it inside or outside the tent. Any noticeable difference that anyone has experienced. Any benefits to one or the other???

I have a 3x3 as well and set up outside mainly to provide more hight availability to the lights. With larger tents it would not be as much a necessity.

Totally up to you does not matter. I will say, pulling air through the carbon filter is supposed to be more efficient then blowing out of it.

Yeah the height issue was kind of my big concern. Not sure if it affects the temperature also or anything like that but I only have a 6’ tall tent so might need a little extra height inside when they start growing up.

Ok good to know!!!

I have had the fan both inside and outside the tent. The only difference I noticed was the fan outside was louder; but it is in the basement so it doesn’t matter.

Hello
If the “filter” is outside the tent, do you use the sock on the outside of the filter?

I didn’t see a way to do anything with the sock on the inside of the filter?

Mine filter is currently inside the tent and the exhaust fan is outside. I’d like to move my filter out as well.

I only have the one exhaust fan. Both the fan and filter were outside the tent. The sock is over the filter.

The sock is like a filter for the filter, it stops dust and other debris from entering the filter and can help extend its life. So if you’re pushing through filter instead of pulling I’d put sock or something similar on the suction side of your hose. Putting sock on filter then pushing through the filter will just slow down the air without adding any benefits.
