Hi all - the tent I’m setting up is a 4x2 and around 6 feet tall from AC Infinity. My other tent is a Gorilla with mucho headroom so I’m more used to well over 7’.
My q is, would you all tuck the exhaust fan in a top corner and vent to the filter on top of the tent or keep it all inside and manage plant height with training?
You can see which way I started, but then figured I’d ask for opinions and come to a better decision.
Damn - didn’t even really think along those lines. Then just put the duct in and have the fan pull it out instead of push? Dealing with an effing dope over here…
Pull or push depending upon which will work best for you. Pulling creates a negative pressure to manage odors better. Be certain to have adequate makeup air source. Either open lower flaps or another, smaller fan pushing to force makeup air into the tent.
I have a 7’ GT with the fan filter outside the tent. I also train my plants.
If you go this route and push the exhaust into the filter, stuff the filter’s outside sleeve inside the filter. This way it works the same (prevents excessive contamination of the charcoal) just in reverse. I also prefilter the exhaust
The exhaust fan outside tent will work fine. You will deal with a little more noise if that’s not a problem. The tent will Help to baffle some of the noise from exhaust fan. I like to use a sound Deader kit on exhaust fan housing.
Good luck

I have the same tent. A 2x4 Infinity and fan. I have an HLG light and it says to keep it at least 15” from the top of the tent. Therefore, there is plenty of room for my exhaust and filter.
It will work either way. But last i knew the charcoal filter is most efficient sucking instead of blowing. I push mine all the way back against the wall. Can still max out my lighting.
Following. I am very curious if it will work the same pushing air through the filter or pulling it. I have always ran my filter in the space pulling air through. Headspace is an issue so let me know what you find to be the case.
Both my fan and filter are outside the tent. No change in odor control, works fine. It is a little noisier but not much. I use open vents for air input; I don’t use a second intake fan. Good luck
Thanks all!! I decided to put everything on top. I put a thick piece of cardboard up there and it’s all sturdy.
The light is at 15” in the pic, but I’d be fine going up more notwithstanding the HLG recommendation. The tent is 48 cu ft and the fan is rated at 205 CFM. At 50% power, it’s definitely quiet enough. Everything would work fine inside, but it seems like a nice fit on top for my space and it’s way less crowded. Plus, I can access a little more headroom inside if needed. Peanut Butter Breath is going in and I understand from @Graysin that they can get unruly
Thank you all for your input, invaluable as always!!!
