I’m aware that spider farmer has updated their tents over the past couple years. Just going to share that after two years and a couple months use my sf 2000 tent is no more. Have had an issue with the zipper for the last couple months. Today was complete failure. Had to rip the tent, now have to replace, to even gain access to it. I know this was a previously large reported issue, that I ignored. Just throwing it out there that anyone with the old style should definitely expect a fail. Probably why the new ones are so different.
That sucks!
It does. Especially just a couple months out of warranty.
Always happens that way doesn’t it?? That sucks man sorry for the loss.
Sounds like a good opportunity to test their customer service policies.

Im just going to make a makeshift cover. I know spider well enough to expect that they would probably send me a new one. But for the price I got it I really can’t complain. My AC infinity 3x3 broke already too. (Corner connection). I’ll just craft a drape for the SF. I have no desire for confrontation these days, plus it lasted as long as advertised. It would be me just being a dick to expect it to last longer. It’s 2023, everything is rented and nothing lasts. That’s life. We move on.
So to say. I’m not looking for a handout. Just telling anyone with the older versions to be extra careful with the zips… it honestly does t make sense… it separated in a point I never used. So it wasn’t from use. It was from stress somehow. Anyway. Not sad or mad.
Edit: It broke in a place I didn’t used to leave the zippers. I started putting them in the upper left corner and that is where the issue began. If I left them in the right curve I imagine this wouldn’t have happened. Although the upper left is where SF suggests. Should’ve just kept it in the curve. Still it proved it’s value. I’ll update with the cover I create, no zippers.
A lot of people don’t realize that “lifetime warranty” means the expected lifetime of the product. Not your personal lifetime…
Don’t argue tools. Especially hand tools. They are expected to outlive you.
Edit: I’m pretty sure there is a SF representative here on site I could tag. Because of… God I can’t remember the name since I never drop by anymore… Doing a test for them which I think I thoroughly dashed with former tests and data. But I’m sure they still have an account here. Whether they choose to use it or not.
The forum doesn’t have any official arrangements with Spider Farmer. There was a person Latewood was talking too, but I’m pretty sure he dropped the ball on that. But I couldn’t even tell you who that was.
Sorry to hear about the tent… nice to see ya though. ![]()
Yes that is the exact exchange I’m speaking of. I probably killed his thread with my interjection. As it gave all the information they actually wanted. But since this is an annon forum even admins can’t really say for sure who is who. My ip has never once placed me actually near me
You kind of get attached to your tents it’s sad when you retire one but zippers don’t last 3 years is about the longest I had one last. Good to see you back @Budz
Well I keep thinking of how I could make a light tight flap system. Honestly seems more trouble than it is worth. I guess I’ll convert my 4x4 to a flowering tent for now. I intend to move soonish so it wouldn’t make sense to get a new tent at this junction. Guess I’ll just remove the propagation table and fit it with the equipment from the 2x4. Even though the exhaust fan isn’t really made for a tent of that size I’m sure it’ll be fine.
I had one of their prototype 5x5 tents. They sent extra support beams etc. Just took like 5 months to get it. Lasted for two years. Replaced it with an ac infinity. But i didnt have isuues on parts just a super long wait. Ac been okay so far.
Only issues I’ve had with the spider is the zipper. The ac infinity 3x3 was bought after held up untill I decided I didn’t need it. Upon dissembly I found one of the corner frame pieces to be broken. Didn’t matter though. It held up till I was done with it and gave it away. I’d take a SF 2x4 over an ac 3x3 anyday. As the sf technically lasted 3x longer.
