I noticed the tent zipper is becoming a bit hard to zip. Anyone have any experience with that issue? Any proactive measures to take?
I unzip the bottom half first then when I unzip the top I grab the top to support it and then there is a velcro strip that I clip to tent with a paper clamp … supporting the flap while unzipping it helps with unzipping and stops the seams from being pulled on so you don’t get light leaks
They make wetsuit zipper lubricant for Scuba Divers. It should help.
Candle wax works fairly well. Take a candle and run it up and down the the zipper
I was also gonna say candle wax or silica spray.
Or
Build a room… lol
Good luck and keep’em growin!
I work the tip of my forefinger behind the zipper pull, when I am pulling it closed. This keeps the fabric flap from getting caught up in the zipper, and helps to maintain enough clearance to let the pull move smoothly.
Candle wax or a bar of soap will help out
I use chapstick to lubricate zippers. I always have some around.
I had a zipper break on a BudBox tent…they sent me a whole new one…all I had to do is fix the zipper on the first one and now I have two tents…helps to know a parachute rigger that could fix the zipper
Some ingenious tips in here! Excellent!
The issue I have is the “flaps” behind the zipper. Over time they have had creases form and get caught while zipping. I just run my fingers infront of the zipper when zipping it up. Ironing my tent seems like overkill lol
@Ickey beat me to it haha
when mine became hard to zip it was because the tent was under tension as i was zipping and unzipping. Basically i was opening / closing it improper and lazily. use some lubricate that others were saying but make sure you are lining the zip line up so the tent shape isn’t being distorted. you could be pulling out or pushing in on tent a bit when you use it and that would make it hard over time and eventually break.
