Twelve1’s Journal: Autoflowers in Soil with Grow Dots

hey @Bunger64, thanks for chiming in. i’m new here and a little hesitant to tag people all over the place. your grows were one of the only ones i could find in my search of the web.

it’s the “maybe at the end it will need just a little x, y or z” that scares me the most with doing grow dots or beanstalk. at any other time, i’d be down for all that, but i’m about to have my first kid. so jumping in at the last minute to fix something may not be possible.

Okay lets see ill read through again im on hold lol
To be honest I have never added anything more than what they suggest on the directions I can easily get led astray, but i think im pretty good now. Have been using Advanced Nutrients till the Beanstalk i like mixing my ten gallons of soil up and use it when needed one thing i learned when I bought the Beanstalk is the 3rd part

Get the bigger green bag you use the most of this made 30gallons and out of the green so the biggwr bag is suggested. I have seen the dots but not enough knowledge to go that route i read they are user friendly @xero your more than welcome to follow along mySolo cup farm, and there are a bunch of seasoned Growmies available, i have just started my 3rd yr love it and will continue on forward. If i can help i will and others will also of course. Congrats on the Baby on the way.
Interesting thing is even advanced nutrients told me to change it up at the end and not follow their chart add more bloom. I didnt because i dont want to screw it up. I found with my 3-4 grow cycle the pots never use all their nutrients so just watering is a bonus also.

@xero Yeah, congrats on your upcoming little one! :baby:

I’ll put a link to @Bunger64 's journal, he can tag you also.

Similarly, before my first Grow Dots plants, I was concerned that I might need to add something towards the end, but I’ve never done so and I’ve been happy with how they have turned out.

A fair amount of growers like to add some extra/different nutes towards the end, or a bloom/flower booster, Grow Dots or not. Since my experience is limited with using other nutes, I really don’t have much further to say, other than I wouldn’t overthink it at this point if you use Grow Dots or Beanstalk, and you can always look to add extra nutes with another grow. But, looks like Bunger has made a suggestion. :grinning:

I can relate to indecision you mentioned, sometimes I’m all over the place with deciding what to grow next.

ah! so i was confused i think. i would be using the beanstalk crf which is granular. it looks like this is probably their powder mix, to be mixed with water first? that’s my fault. i was also on (and am currently using) advanced nutrients. i’m just not confident in their nutrients going through my autopot lines without needing to be cleaned mid grow.

following along on the solo cup grow though. @Twelve1 thanks for that link.

great to know that the additives aren’t required, that’s kind of why i’m holding onto the idea of using grow dots/crf. the back of my mind just keeps chiming in that it “can’t be that easy.”

thanks to both of you for the well wishes on the little on!

This is a granular mixed on soil no liquids thats advanced nutrients. I also have used CRONK nutrients

oh, i see now. i ordered the free trial, so mine is premixed in one bag. the image you shared is just one of those parts when you order them the normal way. good advice on the larger bag size for that one part, thank you! if the test grow goes well (whenever that is), i’ll remember that when ordering more.

Uh oh. Looks like this invader already had a really good acid bath, so I’m not sure if a heavy dose of hypochlorous acid would help.

Ha! Commandeered the golf cart to go hang with Morty, Ossi, and the gang! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Naw, this is as if Thing dropped itself into a bucket of acid.

I recently picked up a couple pairs of lovely skeleton hands at Walmart, a whopping $5/pair. I guess to prevent the sillies from becoming suspicious, the label calls them faux, and the (radius?) wrist bones are stamped with “Made in China”. A stamp like that could come in handy, hehehe.

Hazel the Haze Auto is quickly approaching the harvest window.

For a baseline, I checked her trichs last night during her watering. They are about 80%+ cloudy, and I’ll check them regularly now.

I’m looking to harvest at all cloudy, no amber. In about a week or so, I’ll sample a bud.

Last night, day 59 from sprout, day 35 of flower, in an intentionally measly 1-gallon bag:

Very hard to get all cloudy with no amber and no clear.

:+1: Yeah, more a way of stating things, that’s the aim. At prior “perfect” daytime strain harvests, I usually see a few flashy clears, and sometimes I’ll see an amber or two. I suppose that “mostly cloudy” is still the better phrase.

Do you ever do partial harvests and leave a few buds to go longer to get some amber. A little bit of amber say 10% isn’t gonna cause couch lock in most cases. It should give a more thorough type of high but without the couch lock.

i’m not sure it’s wise to admit how often i actually do this to make decisions.

i’ve eaten the same breakfast for like 5 years now, just so i don’t have to decide what to eat every morning.

i don’t have ocd, but i’m definitely ocd adjacent.

That is funny since every morning for as long as I can remember I have one cup of coffee and a slice of peanut butter toast!

I’ve considered doing that several times, but either I found it wasn’t needed or it wasn’t worth my time. But, I know that I’ll consider it again, but very likely only on nighttime strains.

I’m one of the exceptions! My systems are sensitive (to many things), not only to THC, but it seems to weed in general, so I can tell the differences.

I experimented with some White Widows, and the extra 10%-15% amber I let develop made big enough differences to me. I let my Afghan get a fair amount of amber, and so I only use that before bed.

I didn’t let amber trichs develop on my GDP, and I can have some of that even during the day, it’s clear-headed and relaxing; in low-to-moderate amounts there isn’t a drive to hit the couch, but it’s also great at night to help me sleep.

Being an Indica/nighttime strain, that GDP plant would have been a good candidate to let some trichs go amber, so that’s my likely plan the next time I grow GDP or another nighttime strain.

 Yeah, could be, yet so far with my experiences, I’ve been careful with the daytime strains I’ve been experimenting with the last few months … my body is quick to glob onto any relaxation effects, which can easily become too much for me during the day. That’s what’s great especially about the Durban Poison I grew, since it has very light body effects, and has functional, controllable mind and mood effects.

On the other hand, the Sour Diesel I grew had heavy body effects, despite a buzzed forehead and some vice-grip feelings in my head. So, I doubt that I’ll consume any more of that weed.

And all of that is one reason that I’m trying these different strains in the small 1-gallon bags – no reason to grow more than I’ll need, and in some cases, perhaps rarely use, if ever, like with the Sour Diesel. It’s all good to me, I love mj and growing it, even one or two small plants, they are awesome and they bring me joy.

Oh my goodness, this became a long post. Ha! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:  Thanks for your input, @plumbdand !

(Since it’s too late to edit. :upside_down_face:)

Just to clarify: “heavy” as in way too relaxed for a daytime strain, for my liking. Felt like I should have been on the couch, yet my head was buzzzzzz. Not my fave, lol.
