Transitioning from vegetation to flower (dark period)

I am starting to get to the point in my grow where in the next week or 2 I am going to be transitioning into the flowering stage I know I have seen the information on here before but can’t seem to find it again I have looked through the forum and also that guides I have read different ways to transition and was curious to see what some fellow growers on this site Had to say about it Am I suppose to have a dark period Before switching to 12/12 and am I suppose to transition to 12/12 Gradually or just change my timer straight to 12/12 And as always thanks in advance and happy smoking

All you have to do is set your timer to 12/12. That’s it. No transitioning necessary. :relaxed:

@raustin So you don’t go into a 24 or 48 hour dark period before you flower I have heard of people doing that before

Nope. The only time people will go to a dark period is right before harvest, but I’ve never heard of doing that before flipping to flower. It’s completely unnecessary. Just flip your lights to 12/12 and all will be fine.

Armed with my generator now! Don’t mean to hyjack your thread @1990420 - I’m on my first grow and a few weeks ago I lost power where I live - my plants were 49 days old from seed so that extended period of darkness was my forced flip to the 12/12 cycle. @raustin knows how wigged out I was. I wish you the best with your grow. Jeb

Wait for one of the pros to chime in but I have seen somewhere on here where I think people pop off the plastic cover to those light bulbs. I guess it helps? Sorry I don’t know more I don’t use those. when somebody gets a second they might have some more advice. But good job everything looks real nice

Looking good!

How did you determine they were female? Have you seen preflowers? Just worried you’re going to be disappointed if your 3 are not females.

I will say, I tried the method where you look at the flat part of the seed & look for a perfectly round, volcano-esque depression, to determine if it’s female, and it worked 3 for 3 times. I currently have 3 bag seeds growing among my autos & my photofems. They are all in bloom & all female.

I can get some better pictures around 1 am when the lights come on but 2 were confirmed by a few members you can look on my page to see who I can’t remember they were these pics are a few days old the pics i will send later will see more pre Flower growth and defined pistols but this is what I have for now and thanks for the help @blackthumbbetty
