Should I return the Lobo even before I unbox it? (Warning: long read, only click if you're bored.)

Hi there, everyone. Happy Thanksgiving. I give thanks today for having found this place and all of you! You’re awesome!!

So I was about to momentarily hi-jack Krista’s thread I was reading to ask this question but I figured that might be a bit rude so here I am going to ask it here.

I heard about the lobo here on this forum first a couple years ago I think, and have been reading about it off and on here since. And after reading y’all talking about it a few days ago @Krista @StonedCold13 @merlin44 @Deadhead @SeaOhAreWhy and with black Friday sales upon us  I took the leap and have one along with some accessories heading my way. But I feel I should have posted this first, but I can always return it unboxed. Here’s my question and I’ll try to keep it short. If y’all haven’t figured this out about me yet, I can’t seem to keep any of my posts short. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I am a proud member of the baby boomers, the tail end of it but a baby boomer all the same. I also think my sniffer doesn’t work like most people’s and as a consequence, my tastes may not be the same. I have a hard time describing the smell and taste of weed like a lot of you describe it. Especially the taste. For me, there’s nothing like it. I love it, especially when it’s top quality, exhaled through my nose, brings me back to the days of sinsemilla, tai stick, Lebanesian blonde hash, and hash oil of the late 70s. Hard to find these days. Besides the high, the taste is just as big to me. Since I started growing, I’m on a search for strains that meet that high bar of excellence.

I have COPD. I’ve been smoking weed 50 years and I smoked cigarettes for 40. My wife and I quit smoking cigarettes going on 6 years now. I had tried to replace cigarettes with a vape pen I bought years before we did quit, and I think vaping could have been something I may have been ok with had I stuck with it and not gone back to cigarettes. But I’ve always felt it was a waste of money, vaping was not really my thing. My wife quit smoking everything. She consumes her cannabis in edibles now. I never say never, but I don’t do edibles and don’t think I ever will, but that’s a subject for another lengthy post

But half the reason I smoke cannabis is the taste of those fine, quality terpenes. And because of that, I smoke in one-hitters. Smoking a joint or a bowl is fine, but once the flame is put to the top of the bowl, the first hit has that fine taste, but every hit after is crap, to me. A joint is not so bad after that first hit, but still not good. So I smoke out of a conventional pocket pipe (mostly) or a glass bong and load one-hitters and breathe out that pleasant taste with every hit. Been smoking that way for decades. That’s a part I don’t want to give up.

I suspect the reason that fine taste is gone after the flame is put to the bowl, is because it heats up all the trichs/terpenes within the bowl with that first torch and they’re gone. I’m hoping by controlling the temp on the Lobo, the terps will not all evaporate with the first draw.

So, how many hits are in one dosing capsule? Do you know, or can you taste whether all the terps are cooked with that first hit? Do you get that fine taste through the whole session or just the first hit? I don’t suppose I can load single hits in the dosing capsules, can I? I watched a couple videos and from what I gathered, it needs to be full to burn properly.

I hesitated taking this step because I’m just not a vape type person. I get fixed in a rut and I don’t like change. But I know, from how much smoking is tearing my throat and lungs up, that I’m going to have to make a change in the future, so I’m trying to be pro-active so I can get used to it before someone is trying to force it upon me. I am a text book example of a grumpy old man.

Thanks for reading along till the end.

I get two or three tasty hits. You can light load the capsules, no problem.

I didn’t like vaping much until I got the Lobo.

I am a mid to early boomer.

Taste is better than smoking. Best temp for vaping flower is 380F IMO. For hash or any concentrate, go to 400.

How many hits? As many as you want from a 4-minute or 6-minute session. I can generally get two good sessions per cap.

I think you should unbox asap, charge it up and get ready for the best taste you have ever experienced :green_heart::sign_of_the_horns:t2:
They have a 100 day money back guarantee so run it a month and see what’s up.
I average 5-6 hits per cap which for me is 2 sessions of 3 hits.
Very peppery out the nose as BLow puts

Ok so what’s a Lobo
I tried Google and all I get is a DC comics Character from the 70s
Adding “cannibus” to the search gets a company in NY by that name that sells weed :man_shrugging:.

That’s the POTV Lobo. Planet Of The Vapes. :victory_hand:

Thank you
“Potv lobo” got me on the right track.
So it’s basically a dry hemp vape. As i was reading i was picturing a digital nail of some sort with some talking about consecrates..

I need to get some sorta device to hit dabs without a touch, I just never take the time to find the right one

Awesome to hear these answers. @merlin44 @Deadhead @StonedCold13 Better than I was figuring from a vape device. I can be closed minded at times   I saw that about the money back guarantee. :+1:

By the time I was done posting that, I had almost convinced myself to unbox it no matter and if I didn’t return it, I’d have it if and when I’m told to stop combusting. Anyone know if lung doctors frown on vaping?

My doctor wasn’t too keen on it, but he says it’s a lot better than combusting (tobacco or cannabis)

Basically the same for my doc. He was cooler with it when I explained that I was vaping dry flower rather than some sort of commercial product.

@d-Jawz I will go out on a limb and predict that when you try the Lobo for a few days, you will seldom want to combust again.

I meant to mention that I seldom recommend or endorse products. I have recommended the Lobo to over a dozen people. To my knowledge, every one of them were very pleased with the Lobo.

One person wasn’t impressed with the battery life. I am very happy with the battery life, given that the vape actually performs as advertised.

Edit: I load the capsules very, very loosely for maximum flavor. Only a couple two or three hits per capsule. Two to four capsules per battery charge. I have an external charger with two batteries at the ready.

I predict the same :+1:t2:
I have literally put fire to flower twice since late June. The last time I did it tasted horrible and I questioned how I’d been doing that for so long.
Im not a fan of fancy new gadgets but damn glad I jumped on this board :green_heart::sign_of_the_horns:t2:

Caution! Using a dry herb vape that works properly will ruin you for smoking.

For all the same reasons, I truned to vaping, Growmie. Wish I would have purchased the LOBO from the start, wasted lots of money on other units that dont work well. I travel extensively and take mine everywhere I go. I’m a daily user and it has stood up to the usage.

That’s what I was hoping. It’s gotta be better. My wife uses a nebulizer daily and vapor is pretty much all that is and it’s medically prescribed.

I’ll let my doc know soon, I need to retire first.

I’ve read this from other new Lobo users here on the forum. I’ll let you know when the jury comes back on this one. :crossed_fingers:

I contacted POTV before I ordered it to check if they had one like they do for other models, they said no, that I would need to charge is with the Lobo. Where did you pick yours up?

Amazon

If you get it with batteries, make certain that they are high current batteries. The standard current batteries won’t work in the Lobo.

Me neither  I read your comments in Krista’s thread and that’s partially what convinced me to take the leap on this one. You and other wise growers can’t all be collectively wrong..right??  Y’all certainly haven’t been wrong when it comes to teaching me how to grow so I have faith with this too. :+1:

Thanks for this, Grow bro. I’ve been there before with products, I have three different pull-behind sprayers to show for it. You can’t always go by the reviews you read. The reviews on this forum I know I can trust. :+1: :victory_hand:
