So I have 2 tents etc. I want to try my luck crossing strains but I need some males. I gonna buy the statins I want in regular seed packs. Question is if I have the males in one tent and the ladies in the other but in the same room what’s the chance of the boys messing up my girls?
100% chance of that happening. So my suggestion is to find the male you want to keep and scrap the rest before the pollen sacs open. I’d just find the male you want and let nature take its course.
10-4 question answered
Each female plant should produce at least 2000 to 4000 seeds. I would also suggest you hunt for a female before keeping any males. You dont want to just throw any plant into your breeding. Because if the female is a weak performer in flower then all the offspring are going to be the same.
I would grow a female and smoke the cured flower before you commit to using her as the mother of whatever strain your trying to create.
I’m lost I thought only males produced seeds???
Males produce pollen which causes seeds In the female flowers when introduced.
You can also buy or make the stuff it’s called silver something it’s STS you can get it at the store. You spray it on your female plant and it forces it to hermaphrodite. Then use the pollen to pollinate a female this makes feminized seeds. I haven’t seen it made in years but it’s pretty easy you just hook a battery to something silver and put it in water I think it is. I’m sure that the recipe is all over Google, or like I said you can get it from probably Walmart. This is the method used by most if not all breeders, guess I should say used to be the way there might be newer ways now I just haven’t messed with it in years
@repins12 is doing that now in his journal.
He’s making colloidal silver solution.
i started crossing years ago… your in for some fun times learing about the whole process… for my environment it works best if i seperate them and manually harvest the pollen anf freeze it… then you can then selectively pollenate and cross any time… just my 2 cents and hope that helps in some wsy… have fun with it… but leaving them in that close proximity will def turn your crop to seeds
Lots of good info. Growing weed has came a long way since the ditch bank. I’ve grown some good smoke on the ditch or in a corn field. This way is much more interesting
its nice to have more control over the environment for indoor stuff… esp if your crossing strains… i still do some outdoor every chance i get though…
Outta likes already this morning, my northern brother. There are 2 products that I am aware of the colloidal silver and the STS, silver trisodium sulfate
One should research each product. My understanding is that with the colloidal silver, only the branches sprayed are not consumable but, with the STS, none of the plant is consumable after spraying even one branch. Just my understanding from my research. That is why I went with the colloidal silver
