Inducing male flowering from female flowers

i have been trying to induce male flowers on female plants to get feminized pollen, i have been using colloidal silver at 40 ppm but it does not seem to be working, ive been going on 3 weeks now and the male sacks are not showing.

anyone has any tips on this.

i have a very unique plant, that its highly mutated, the shape of the leaves are different, almost like the strain ducksfoot and i want to keep this mutation as its very favorable, the buds thus far are looking fat af.

thanks for the advice, i want to preserve the mutations, not get rid of them. after harvesting i will place the plant in a 24 hr light cycle again so that i could save the mother and then create clones, even though it will not be to its full potential since it already went trough a flowering cycle

thanks for the quick reply. ok now i understand better what was written before. much appreciated.

I believe @Newt just tried this a few months back.

And failed. So not sure I am the best source of any answers.

sorry to hear that. the best way ive found is to stress the plant. the problem with that, is that the whole plant is under stress, while with the CS its localized.

This very interesting to me .something i would like to get more involved with. I have always thought that i made a strain of my own but never really understood if i did because it beyond my knowledge. So i collect pollen from a male from a Hawaiian strain and pollinated a a northen light strain .so my question is.is that how you make a new strain. And how do you make feminized seeds

thats exactly how you make new strains, cross pollination

my purpose though is to keep certain traits from a random seed that turned out to be aa mutated plant, the leave arrangement is not the same, the overall physiology of the plant is different, so im trying to fix it(keep it). the best way is to breed it is with itself as it turns out.

Thanks for the quick response.so now my follow-up question would be how would i preserve my new strain without over cloning it most of the seeds i collect from where mostly males and i no longer have those seeds

:+1:, as a warning, dont clone clones. the genetic material deteriorates every time you clone, meaning, if you take a clone from a plant you like, dont clone that clone. the best thing you could do is keep the mother plant, the original seed that gave you the plant you liked and clone from that one, to pollinate it and for it to have the characteristics you have, you will need to turn one of those clones into a male and then pollinate the mother plant and hope that the characteristics you wanted transfered over. i hope you are able to understand what i wrote if not let me know and ill brake it down a bit ore for you

Yes that simple to understand. I knew not to clone a clone. I had a mother plant thats where i got my clones from. But i see you said to pollenate the mother? Can i just pollenate the clones. I really appreciate the knowledge youre passing on

I had a mother room a clone room and grow room . Most of my info i got was from high times magazines…lol but it did get to where i am now

you are welcome, knowledge is meant to be passed around. yes you can pollinate a clone, the reason i said mother plant is because thats were the original genes come from, so you have a higher chance of getting what your looking for that way. a clone loses some of its genetic material so you have a higher possibility of having more hybridizations that way. but if you have lots of clones one of them might give you what your looking for. to create an actual strain you need about 6 generations. meaning that you have to pollinate the same plant a couple of times, and then those seeds. its an arduous effort but it pays off if you have created something special.

you have to start somewhere. just keep doing what your doing, and always look for more information, on propagation techniques and things like that.

I have a question. I was read a few articles and made a mish mosh of them. If i have a female from a feminized seed and i pollenate it with pollen from photoperiod male… will the seed be feminized? Or will i have to get a photo female and spary her with colloidal silver ans the pollen for her

it will be a regular seed, it might be male or it might be female. you need a female and induce male flowering to get (feminized male pollen). colloidal silver is supposed to work, it didnt work for e on this try though, for me what has usually worked is to light stress, once in a while let some light in, not a lot and not for a very long time.

Yeah thats what i thought if it male pollen its just gonna give mix seeds…hav you tried Gibberellic Acid in one article it said that its a better product. I really what to get into the breeding aspects do to the fact that i dont smoke

i know of G. Acid, many articles point to C. Silver as it will work better. i have not tried G. Acid though, maybe in the future

@Newt @Mosca
posting an update, so it did work after all, the male flowers are tiny, im just pulling them with some tweezers when they mature and storing them, so that i could pollinate some autos i have coming up.
