This season, I’m trying Apple Fritter, a very high THC cultivar. The ILGM description is a compact plant, on the order of 30 inches. What size pot would do best? I have fabric pots in 5, 7.5 and 10 gallon sizes.
Cheers

Indoor or out, if in door what size is your grow space
Good questions from @OGIncognito . In addition. I wiuld disregard ilgms size estimates. They assume experienced growers in optimal conditions. A plant’s characteristics are highly dependent in the environment the plant is given.
I grow in two 5x5 tents and typically run 5 gal pots. I’ve done 7 and 10 gal pots, but my plants have never used up all that soil. I’m typically runnung 120-130 days from seed pop to harvest.
I’m sure i could use up more soil if i did a lot more training (lol they would require constant training) and vegged for longer.
Another thing to keep in mind is that most seeds you buy today have wild variation in phenotypic expression (some great stable lines but not typically). You pop 5 AF beans and you could end up with 5 completely different looking plants with completely different needs in terms of hydration, nutes, height, etc.
What media are you going to grow in? Different mediums have different watering and ph requirements.
Happy gal right there!
I have grown apple fritter twice. My outdoor grow got 9 ft high and 18 ft to 20 ft across. Indoor with hydro with four week light flip it completely outgrown my tent 4x4. I know the size of the plant is based on the factors of the pot size.
Just out of curiosity, is the Apple Fritter a photo or an auto? Are you going to grow it indoors or out? If it’s an auto, you can get away with a smaller pot, either way. If it’s a photo, I would go as large of a pot as you can, and let it veg as long as you can to stay on your schedule if you are indoors. If you are going to be outdoors, the sun will dictate the timing for you. Best of luck and hoping it comes out perfect.
That’s a beauty! Looks like it needs a bit of a trim but man, is she gorgeous. Congrats.
I grow indoors 2.5 to 3 foot plants . I use 3 gallon air pots and the root ball gets just about big enough to fill them. I have to water/feed every 3 to 4 days till mid/late flower then every 2/3 days.
Don’t see the reason for wasting soil with to big of a pot.
True with soil and some mediums, with coco it’s about how often they will dry out and can be fed again. Frequent fertigation equals crazy growth, coco lets you feed them multiple times a day. With coco, bigger pots allow you to go longer between watering. I’ve got 5 and 6 footers in 2 gallon bags in coco!
I’ve trimmed several times, it just keeps growing in the coco, those are going to be pollinated with a reversed Blackberry Moonrocks plant sprayed with STS and CS , going to make feminized crosses, that one will be Blackberry Fritter.
As a reply to several questions, I have two greenhouses, though only one is set up for additional light (4 LED panels and two 4’ T-8 fluorescents). Unfortunately, the sun is getting co-opted by neighbors’ trees. (I actually get better sun in the winter.)
As for a grow medium, I use equal parts of either Coast of Maine/Happy Frog, site-made compost and soil ‘recycled’ from the previous year. I typically use rainwater for irrigation which is about 5.5 pH.
I typically use feminized/photo-period plants. My one experiment with an auto-flower was not that good. The plant started budding when only 18" high.
