Nutrients shmootrients

I am about to begin my first indoor grow. I have done outdoor, just harvested 10 autos, actually. I do have somewhat of an advanced understanding of plant biology, and I’ve logged countless hours of reading, highlighting and taking notes from articles, books and videos. I havent used anything other than FoxFarm and was so impressed that I havent really been directing my attention to nute lines. However, I found that I was having to regulate my pH constantly, they are very acidic and dialing down the prescription was difficult when trying to find that threshold. There were a few excessive feedings, AT HALF STRENGTH, that burnt my girls. Not to mention, I did the dirty dozen and I have to say that the other products just added to the acidity and uncertainty of exactly what was being given in excess. I do like FF, I just want to try something basic that performs well and danks it up! I like to get my recommendations here, you guys are the best, so helpful and friendly! IDK, seems like a lot of systems have such a wide array of choices or combinations and it seems like overkill. Id just like to try a new line, one that gives the macros and during bloom I can play with different enhancements. I love a good experiment. There are actually even some organic, home made nutes I may try for trichomes and flower density, but thats way away rn. (I actually was going to try a round of Reefertilizer, its one of the powdered blends. Its one for veg and one for bloom after you flip the switch. However, the reviews were all over the place so I decided to log on and post and read about nutes on ILGM instead. So, if someone could tag me in ssomthing they have discussed, Ill check out the thread. I would like a powder that I can just add into my distilled liters. Personally i like powedered agents when there is a choice of liquid or powder. Anyway, I hear good things about Jacks and advanced nutrients and floramagic.

This thread made me try Jacks. Its easy, nothing changes through the grow. Same formula all the way through. 3 dry ingredients.

I hear good things from alot of growers here that use Jacks. Another really good option that is hassle free is Earth Dust both Base and Boost. It creates a living soil that gets better with each grow. By the third grow using the same soil, it is alive and thriving. @MeEasy and a few others got me interested and I need to get me a bag of each. It is a dry amendment you mix in to the top 2" of soil and water. Simple Simon. If not familiar, read up and reach out to ask any questions.

Only $49.00 here

Hi there. You are right. There are so many items out there, it gets crazy. I started with nutes from here. Then went to FF, they my fav is Jacks 321. now am experimenting with Goldleaf fert. It is a liquid, expensive but add every 3rd watering. .No checking ph or runoff numbers, but I did anyway. No need to let water sit out to dechlorinate. I had a few bumps in the road. Lights too hot. Added wrong amt of the fert…mostly my screwups. But, I am going to go back to Jacks and finish up what i have. Then maybe something else will hit the market.

If you’re using FF soils, Jack’s 321 is great. After mixing, my ph falls around 6.4. I haven’t had to ph a single batch of feed in almost 2 months. A 5 gallon batch lasts me about 5-6 days, and by day 5, the ph is still only at about 6.7.

Earth Dust, as mentioned, is a super fxxxing easy way to go as well. Just amend your soil with Base 2-4 weeks before planting. Probably be better with FF Happy Frog as it’s dulled down on the nutes a litte. Then a top dress of Boost before flower, and another 30 days later. Just keep soil moist, no runoff necessary.

@Spiney_norman , what ever happened to Cyle? Did he switch forums or?

He showed up a couple times after his short ban was over. Don’t know if he lost interest in this forum after but his posts were not angry or showing any bad feelings. Suppose he just found a new home while out. Sometimes he will answer a tag…
@Cyle1 , are you out there still?

@Spiney_norman I went to his YouTube channel & he posted a vid 10 months ago.
That room he had going on was something else. Thanks, I was just wondering.
I think he’s lake Ozarks area.

@Lunabudz929 My first indoor run I used the Bergmans nutes and they worked great, my only regret was I needed a larger order to complete each phase. A double order would have even perfect. Now I’m using TPS nutes and the plants are responding well.
A little trial and error can be expected while you find your groove. :sunglasses:

I’ll weigh in on Jack’s as being a no-brainer. FF is one of the most expensive nutrient lines going and requires flushing at specific points in the grow. Jack’s requires non of that.

I do the 3-2-1 program until the flip then do a modified 2-2-2-1.2 with MKP (Monopotassium Phosphate) being the 4th ingredient. Run for 3 weeks then resume 3-2-1 program.

I do recommend the use of silica for indoor grows as it helps stiffen plant stems in flower and provides needed silica for trichome production (which are composed primarily of silica).

Done FF and GH and Jack’s is by far the easiest, most economical line I’ve found.

I love this guy. Anyone else notice he looks like Woody Harrelson with hair?

Sorry bout the link. How do i know if it is authorized? @Myfriendis410

I grow in my own mix of FFOF, composted leaf mulch, chicken manure, pine shavings all broken down into worm food. I top dress throughout the grow. Didn’t start feeding bat guano, worm castings, kelp meal tea until late veg. Now I use the tea every week, Cal-mag PH to 6.5, then awhile into flower I felt they were lacking. @W.B.elpaso recommended granular Kool Bloom. I know its not organic, but I’ve been giving them 2 or 3 days worth every couple weeks. Last week I started molasses once a week. The plants seem to be loving it.

If they’re selling something then it’s not allowed, other than Amazon.

No sweat; part of the job.

Sorry when you said Kool bloom I got both. Been using liquid and powder, alternating between the two. Cal-Mag and silica as well.

Thank you! Ill watch it tonight! I think I’ll try Jacks, sounds like it’s a good fit. I’ve used their 20.20.20 on my gardens

Personally I use the ADVANCED NUTRIENTS sensi nutrients. The pH is always right on the money using ro water out distilled. It takes pH out of the equation. You can buy it as a kit, but you still need to buy your calmag separate. And a couple other ones as well. They also have grow support for free. They will talk your ear off. Anyways this is the only brand I have tried.
