Currently using Jack's 3-2-1 but im looking to switch it up

Currently looking to switch from jacks to a different nutrient program. Looking for suggestions please and thank you.

Jacks is pretty good. Why are you wanting to switch?

I’d stay away from the FF Trio. It is very salty and causes pH problems shortly after flowering.

It would be helpful to know what issues you are having with your current product and what you are looking for in the change.

If you want something that is a “LOT” more work and will drain your bank account, then I suggest Nectar for the Gods line from Oregons Only. You can start with the sample pack and add on a dozen more things later. I currently use Jacks myself and NFTG’s is on the other end of the spectrum. It will give you a good change of pace. It does work well too btw, so I am not bashing it at all. I just could not afford the time and money.
I hear good things about Earth Dust too.

That was my reasoning for changing. Ive read that its too salty. I was also talking to the guy at my local grow shop and he said the same thing about being too salty.
I’d like to keep it as simple as possible with the nutrients schedule and how they’re used. I grow autos and photos. When i first started i asked on the forum…What is a easy nutrient program to follow? Thats how i ended up using jacks

Jacks too salty? That doesn’t make sense to me. Plenty of nute lines are far worse.

Ya im not looking to complicate things lol. What does your feeding schedule look like with jacks if you dont mind me asking? Also do you use anything else?

Nutrient salts are not the same as “Table Salt” Salts are numerous in nature.
I use jacks and NEVER flush. I don’t water to run off and I don’t check run off pH or ppm. If the tips or edges of the leaves start to burn I back off by watering with plain water or 1/2 strength for a few days.
To answer the question, I grow in Coco and water with Jacks every day. In a gallon I mix 1/2 tsp of part A, 1/4 tsp of Epsom, and 1/2 tsp part B. Level on the measures and not rounded. Once flower starts I will let the Part A be rounded to give a bump in PK for a couple weeks. But if I see ant burning I back off again. I routinely get just over a pound of bud from a 3x4 tent with 3 cheap Mars Hydro lights.

Honestly this is just what ive read and heard at my local shop. The guy wasn’t trying to sell me one of their products, he just said jacks is too salty when i told him what i used.
Ive noticed quite a bit of what looks like salt residue after emptying pots at the end, so it had me thinking and researching

I’ve only had to flush once or twice, so my experience is about the same.

I would be cautious of what people in grow shops say. I’ve been here for over 3 years and can’t count the number of times I’ve seen people post something that they got from a grow shop guy that is just flat wrong.

Any idea what that is in grams? Im currently mixing Part A- 3.5g. Epsom 1g Part B- 2.4g per gallon. I also dont feed every watering. Im in soil. How often should i be feeding and are these numbers good?
This is my first year growing so im learning from google lol.

The standard 321 mix is
Part A - 3.6g
Part B - 2.4g
Epsom - 1.2

You can see the formula is 3X and 2X the amount of Epsom Salt. There are numerous variations and modifications based on growers experiences and water used.

The ratios recommended by JR Peters, the manufacturer of Jacks is:

Part A - 3.8g
Part B - 2.5g
Epsom - 1.0g

This is the current per gallon feed schedule

I will have been using Jack’s for two years as of this coming February. All in peat (once only) or coco. Every time I water which is daily I add Jack’s. It is designed for frequent fertigation. And because it is intended to be used every time it is mild and well tolerated by plants. It is a system and process that works for me.
If I switched to mineral and plant based nutrients my entire approach and medium would have to change. I think I would have to go to a living soil type approach. Too bad Earth Dust went belly up. Maybe Gaia Green or something from Build-a-soil. But, no way in hell will I brew and stew teas. I take my coffee black.

Feed as necessary to maintain a runoff PPM of ~1,000.

Same, same. It’s enough work as it is.

Jacks is soooo easy…

I’ve got enough going on to have to go back to liquid nutes… No thanks.

Good luck anyway… changing it up is sometimes a good thing.

But once I found Jacks, I’m done with changing myself.

I will throw this option out for you if you’re looking for an easy product to use Dyna-gro One bottle for veg stage an 1 bottle for a flowering stage. After the plants get a little size and you start watering to run off you will not have a salt build-up problem. Just to offer another option. I have never had a problem with the product.
Welcome an good luck :+1:

Lots here use Jacks with amazing results. Personally i like to use the Advanced Nutrients line and feel like a mad scientist hydro farmer if you want to try they have an app called “bud labs” that gives you the feeding schedule.

Vegetive Stage Mix i do add some additional bacteria for cyanobacteria control and barley straw extract for algae control in hydro -
