What’s happening growmies, I’m looking to switch from fox farm nutes on this grow. I was leaning towards advanced nutrients. My local hydro guy told me to stay away from advanced because they are also salt based. He recommended I try nectar for the gods. Told me it was pretty basic and to research it. Just wondering if anyone has experience using it.
No experience with this Growmie, but would recommend Jacks 321 if you’re looking for something simple, clean and will last many grows. I switched from FF 3 years ago and haven’t looked back
I was considering jacks and 19-4-23 also. This fellow who seems more knowledgeable than me said “ don’t do it” and said it’s like commercial grade steroids and if I wanted organic and top shelf quality to use nectar. You like jacks?
The line I use (321) is 5-12-26 for part A. That 19-4-23 looks nitrogen heavy and weak on the Potassium
I gave NFTG line a try a few years ago. It does work ok. I ordered the Sample box and you get 6 or 7 bottles of stuff. While the results are good, I didnt like the ever changing nutrient schedule you have to follow and mixing up stuff from 4 to 6 bottles of products. And that’s just the basics. You have to buy other stuff if you want to add other nutrients. They also smell bad as they age. They truly are organic except for one additive they put in one of the bottles as a stabilizer. Far to fiddly for me. And you are going to spill stuff as you measure out the doses.
I started using Jacks 321 and am very happy. Dry powders and easy to mix within a few minutes. The plants grow vigorously and thick. (I use coco coir) The formula is the same all the way from seed to harvest. There are some adjustments you can follow if you wish and others have posted those ideas here in the forum, but its not necessary to get a good harvest. I routinely get over a pound dry out of a 3x4 tent.
Jacks is not “Organic” but I don’t follow the thinking that it has to be. Nitrogen Potassium and other minerals are the same whether you dig them up or make them, and the plant changes them into other nutrients anyway. So once the plant takes them in and turns them into sugars needed for growth then what’s the difference? For instance, Epsom salt is Magnesium Sulfate. In water it instantly decomposes into Magnesium atoms and Sulfur atoms. No longer bound together they are no different than any Magnesium and Sulfur found in nature. I do not see why it would make the plant less desirable.
I suggest you at least try Jacks. You can buy small kits on eBay and grow a few plants and see for yourself.
Well stated Grow Bro
Jacks all the way. Very gentle. Easy to adjust if necessary. Cheap and the 6lb eebay kits last 10-15 plants depending on vessel size.
Is this what I’ll need? I also don’t think I’ll be feeding at all through veg. I use ocean forest when I transplant at about 2 weeks above ground and then switch to flower about a month or so later. At least that’s how I’ve done my last 2 grows.
2.2 lb bags are cheaper, those 25 lb bags will last you a lifetime. To answer your question that’s the line up
Ok, yeah I figured that was way more then I needed. do you need both parts if I’m only feeding during flower?
Yes both parts start to finish…simplest nutrients I’ve used. Epsom salt is part of their 321 line up but like several others growers I’ve omitted that and run a 4/2 schedule versus the 3.6/2.4/1.2
Is your avatar a Redbone hunting dog
Yeah, That’s my man Farley ray the redbone coonhound. Well what’s the 15-0-0 mix? Is that all nitrogen? Wouldn’t that only be during veg .
Calcium Nitrate
So then do you have to add magnesium with that? Or just those 2 products start to finish?
Epson does provide mag and sulfur but part A has them both
Here is the SDS for Part A
Its about 1/3rd Epsom in itself.
Epsom is Magnesium Sulfate
@OGIncognito @Spiney_norman so I’ve decided to try Jacks. I ordered the jacks part an and b like above. Do I also need epsom salt? And as far as the three numbers, they are the weights of each part? What is the order? And as far as mixing them is it just add them to water until dissolved and then ph? Or do I need an air stone or bubbler to brew .
Doing soil or Coco?
If you said I dont remember…
If you have an accurate scale you weigh the doses.
I just use 1/2 tsp part A and once its dissolved then 1/2 tsp part B.
No problems. Weighing is more accurate, but Jacks is pretty forgiving.
Once flowering starts I use a rounded tsp of A to kick up the P&K levels.
I will link a couple threads for you to research.
And yes, Mix up and then adjust pH as needed.
I grow in coco and once mixed in RO water it lands on 5.8 with no adjustment needed.
I’m using ocean forest soil, so it’s not necessary to add epsom salt? Thanks for the links. Appreciate you!
