With Ocean Forest I like to add a good amount of Perlite to keep it loose.
You wont need to feed for 4 to 6 weeks. I start feeding when I switch to flowering around 5 weeks. Since I switched to Coco I don’t do soil anymore.
I don’t use the Epsom anymore.
Just watch for the low magnesium symptoms. If you need to you can add 1/4 tsp per gallon.
Part A has a good dose of Magnesium already. An 8oz bag from Walmart will last a couple years.
@OGIncognito@Spiney_norman what’s up growmies! I have been using Jacks for about 2 weeks now, I’ve got an auto 2 weeks into flower and 2 other photos in Preflower. I have been following the 4/2 schedule with a ph of 6.5 for all of them. I’m noticing some leaves are looking weird on a few of them. How are they looking? Also is there anything else I should/could add during flower? I have some tiger bloom leftover if that’s safe to add also. Or is Jacks by itself all I need for a good harvest?
Have you been feeding to liberal run off Grow Bro? I go to the run off PH and PPMs when I see an issue. Silica is the only thing I add to jacks. The 321 line is pretty well balanced for veg thru harvest IMO. Overall they’re looking good and nice early catch
I always have a few cups of runoff from each. I have never tested the ph of the runoff. I don’t have a ppm meter either. Guess it’s time to suck it up and buy one of those also. There is so much new growth down inside the plants , so they seem to be liking the jacks. I never had that explosive growth with fox farms. I’m feeding every watering, is that ok? Or do I really need the meter to see what’s going on
I’m not seeing a toxicity issue with over feeding, something’s a little off and would assume it’s the PH in the root zone?? Salts from synthetic fertilizers can accumulate in the root zone tanking the PH preventing nutrient uptake. Liberal run off helps rinse these away from the previous feeding. I’m curious on the run off PH and PPMs
So I actually was due to water the 2 in Preflower, so I just tested runoff and the 2nd pictured black snow was 6.5 which has no visible issues. And the 3rd pic kush mints tested 6.8
Have been feeding every other day or 2, yeah drench to drought. Good amount of runoff each time. Basically a gallon per plant. Using 3 gallon fabric bags
I bought a blue labs ppm meter today, and after talking to the hydro guy he told me to give plain 6.5 ph water and test the runoff ppms. He believed nutrient burn and said autos don’t like a lot of nutes. The NL auto ppm is 2000 the other 2 which aren’t having issues we’re 1420 and 1200. I gave them all a more then normal amount of just water today, what do you suggest I do for the next watering? Do I lower ppms by flushing?
Water feed only next round and to liberal run off and check the PH and PPMs, let about a cup or so run out then catch a sample and test. 800-1000 would be a comfortable range but I see soil numbers in the 1600s and the plants are thriving. High for the plant at 2000, make sure the PH is range of 6.3-6.8 for nutrient uptake
Hey man I’m looking for some knowledge on ppms. I mixed a batch of jacks other day at 4/2 ratio and 3 gallons at a time, I tested the ppms after and it was around 1100. How do I adjust my ppms going in if I’m following the 4/2? Is there a set ratio like feeding this amount will yield you this number of ppms every time without vary? Like if my plants runoff tested let’s say 700 with just ph water, do I feed just 300ppms to get to around 1000? If so how do I feed that amount? All in all my plants are looking great, the auto was still too high and I got lazy and didn’t run just water through first, went straight 4/2 ( figured skipping 2 feedings she would need nutrients but no she read 1800 after I fed her. Ok and last question, to know when I need to feed I basically need to water 6.5 ph through the plants and test that runoff and then mix up nutrients and feed after? Cause man that is a real pain in the you know. Takes a lot of time every other day , and I don’t really have the time to let all this water gas off and be ready to water 6 -8 gallons every time. Or should I just alternate every other feed/ water and only test if issues?
This is most likely due to your water source TDS and wouldn’t worry. My water source has a TDS of 130 and my mix comes out around 850ish.
Shows their eating and have a healthy appetite. Feed full strength if the run off is less than 800 has been my approach. When I grew in soil, I followed a drench to drought routine and only fead straight water when the PPMs were in the 1200 and above range.
This is probably related to lack of run off and salts have accumulated in the root zone.
I don’t recommend this, feed the nutrient mix to liberal run off and check that. If it’s like the one you have at 1800 you know that would be a water feed only the next time.
Alternating feed/water is a great practice to follow for soil. On water days the run off will let you know how much they’re consuming. Admittedly I don’t let my tap water gas off, I do have a really good water source though
