Currently using Jack's 3-2-1 but im looking to switch it up

@Jarlax

How many plants do you grow at a time?

Is your mixing and watering time pretty significant? Looks really technical and involved to me.

Advanced Nutrients loves us. I used the organic Iquana Juice line for about a year. No doubt it is a quality product. I still use many of the supplements along with Jack’s.

I too use Advanced Nutrients, with ProMix as my medium.
pH Perfect blook, micro, grow, along with SensiCal, RhinoSkin, bud candy, b-52, voodoo juice, and big bud (think that’s all???).
Pretty easy to mix, I fill my 5-gallon bucket up when empty and let it sit a day or 2 until next feeding, then mix nutes in. Lasts about 3 or 4 feedings, every 2 days right now (early on when they don’t drink as much I use less water so it doesn’t sit for 2 weeks before used). About a quart each every watering now. Every 2 or 3 buckets I will give them some Epsom salts with water only. I do not water to run-off, don’t test my inputs or outputs (have none!).
It is expensive, but when you break it down to a per plant cost, probably $10 to $12 each…and those are the tine Canadian dollars!

Having had both Fox Farm Trio and Jacks 321, jacks is the least ā€œsaltyā€ choice. Have never had to flush, super easy to mix and the stuff seems to last forever as it takes so little per gallon!

The ā€œsaltierā€ nutes require flushing and jacks isn’t one of those. I add molasses, Miicrobial Mass, and some other organic/ microbe additives for mine as I run in soil.

Have also been trying out Grow Dots and they work good, could still use some improvement, but still a new product. They are time released nutrient pellets you add to the soil so you don’t need to use additional nutes in flowering. They were designed for cannabis plants so they are designed to release the right nutrients at the right time during veg and flower. They have a microbe booster/ recharge that goes with it, mit if already using other microbes wouldn’t need it.

General Hydroponics Flora Trio was pretty much the standard for a good while. It’s a really good nutrient line. I just got tired of all the bottles and syringes you deal with using liquid nutrients. I definitely recommend using liquid Kool bloom if you go with GH. It’s so good I’m thinking about trying to use kb with Jack’s.

It’s a good idea to flush when it’s time to switch from veg to flower nutes. That’s pretty standard with liquid nutrients.

You’re in good hands with Jacks and the many growers here who use it successfully.

For my autos, I’ve been using Grow Dots, along with the Recharge microbes, with great results. The Dots are mixed in the medium (I use soil), so it’s Recharge once a week. I use RO water, so I add a small amount of calmag with every watering. No PHing, no flushing, pretty simple and easy.

Jacks is arguably ā€˜The’ most popular line in here with proven results and testimonials. Never heard anyone complain about it being a salty nute. Now FF even has required flushing on their charts. Your headed in the wrong direction lol.

Sounds good. Sorry about the bad info from the grow shop person, but it’s good you checked here. Happy growing and happy 2023!

Perhaps the comment was made because Jack’s does leave a white residue on the grow bags. Its on every grow bag I have used since starting Jacks 321 system. However, try as I might it doesn’t wash off. Which means the residue is no longer water soluble. I have scraped it off to some degree but honestly just never worry about it. I reuse grow bags for other plants and use new bags for tent grows mostly. No plants burned because of the white stuff on the bag. But I can see someone seeing that and thinking it is a negative thing… but its not.

I use Advanced Nutrients Big Bud 7-11-22 with Jacks at 50% every other feed. It is left over from when I regularly used AN. When it is gone I will use AN Big Bud for Coco. It is 0-4-4 which more suitable to feeding every time.

Do you use it with the regular blend of Jack’s or do you modify your recipe? I used MKP this first run with Jack’s at 2/2.7/2 and 1.2 grams of MKP. Liquid kb is 0-10-10. Which mix your think it would work better with?

I always feed something! I don’t use plain water. My schedule looks like 90% of suggested mix one day about 1200ppm/ 65% of suggested mix next day about 800ppm/same thing next day/ 4th day I use whatever other amendments I want to add to my mix. But I do it very sparingly. ( fish shit, big bud, prime, misc…) end up with about 200-300 ppm. ALWAYS ADJUSTING THE PH for EVERYTHING that goes into the pot. If you want great looking plants and a pain in the ass mixing nutes! Use what I use CYCO PLATINUM LINE. This is just how I do it. :person_shrugging:t5:

I’ve been growing now for about 18 months, at first I bought into all the snake poison and bought all the expensive products, burning my plants in the process m. I loved my plants to death, and offered them my wallet and bank account. After a few runs I changed this around, im all for dropping money on your grow but do it for the lights or something else. Jacks works great! I use jacks a, b, epson salt, silica,. I still use some general hydroponic products I have leftover from my unnecessary spending days ( just over a year ago haha) such as koolbloom liquid and dry ripener and every other time I use floralicous plus. Honestly I think the only thing I’ll buy again besides the jacks is the kool bloom because it’s probably good to use some kind of bloom booster with jacks. That’s just my gut no research on that. This new year my resolution is to keep it simple. The nutrient program benefits from the same simplicity!

I grew soil and hydro. Now I grow in coco and love it, in my opinion it’s a happy balance between the two mediums (soil and hydro).

I use the regular mix of 3.8 / 2.5 / 1.0. I added big bud at 50% (1ml / liter) and not add it every day. I use it weeks 2 - 5 of flower.

Just a heads-up, if you are interested. I have a large utility sink in my laundry room, I fill it with warm water and a gallon of distilled white vinegar. Soak bags overnight and rinse out, then fill sink with warm water and once again soak in tap water overnight. It removes stains from Jack’s on my fabric bags. You may not want to go to the trouble but it does work well. :+1:

Thanks. I have a laundry sink in my mechanical room. I will give it a try.

@Bulldognuts @Spiney_norman in addition to vinegar I’ve added OxiClean and FloraKleen from GH. I figure florakleen is used for flushing and thus dissolving salt it would work on stained fabric bags. Then I switched rain science bags.

@VirginiaGrowBoy i grow 6 huge photos in connected 13 gallon buckets with a 55 gal resivor in a DIY RDWC. I mix veg food then never change the water, i phase in and out everything.

I have the system incremented in the res for every 5 gallons, as plants eat/drink i relace the 5 gallons with 5 gallons of food mix according to plant phase. Its easier than it looks, and there is a mobile app guide to teach you.

Additives always stay the same, and to increase or decrese ppm you modify the amount of Grow or Bloom A+B.
