Hello all, first grow and I was wondering what brands etc of nutrients you fine folks would recommend. Right now I have 4 plants (3 godfather, 1 purple punch). 4 weeks into the grow and they were looking perfect but started developing what appears to be nute deficiency (possibly NPK?). My water pH was always balanced to 6.5 but I wasn’t checking soil. Checked it yesterday and it was high. Seems around 7.5-8 best I can tell.
Any advice, including which brand of, or preferably, which specific nutrients to get? I get a bit overwhelmed by the various options and numbers and info out there, so I apologize in advance for my confusion and ignorance. But I would greatly appreciate any advice or help. Thank you!
@doublerdiner I can’t said about nutrients cuz I had the beginner nutrients is GH trio
But here is a lot of pro that used jacks nutrients easy to used and less money

I use Fox Farms for Soil. Full schedule. It’s like 14 different things, so it’s a lot. A lot of folks here are using Jacks 321 for the ease, and getting great results, and I may switch as well, once I use up what I have of the FF stuff.
For sheer ease of use and great results use Jacks 321. 7lb kit on ebay for $40 and will last forever!
Fox Farm can give great results too but it is a lot more demanding of the plant and grower. Best to run it 3/4 strength or half and STICK to the schedule. Don’t skip a flush - nothing! Follow it like the law!
With Jacks you could add some microbes and be set for life!!
Thank you all for the advice. It is sounding like Jacks is the way to go. If the delivery time is long, is there a good option for filling in til it arrives? I have a hydroponics store in town that sells GH, FF, Botanicare, House & Garden, Canna, Dyna-Gro, Adv Nutrients, Technaflora, and various others.
How are you checking soil PH? slurry test? Probe?
If you truly have that high of PH your deficiencies could be from PH lockout best to get that under control before adding a bunch of nutrients that may not help
Once PH is back between 6.3-6.8 add nutrients
I also agree with the others Jacks 321 is the best bang for the buck I use it with great results

Yeah, I checked with a probe yesterday. Lockout is what I was afraid of. They haven’t had any serious watering and are in 5 gallon buckets (Fox Farms Happy Frog soil, ~20% perlite added). Since they haven’t been requiring much water, I thought perhaps I hadn’t watered them enough for the roots to utilize nutrients in the soil, but I am super new at this.
Should I try adding epsom salts to the water and/or do a flush? And if so, any tips or advice for that? Sorry again for so much ignorance, I truly appreciate all the help from this awesome community here. Thank you again.
The probes are garbage google slurry test for future reference and start checking runoff ppm and PH(with a good PH meter apera is popular around here)so you have an idea where you are at PH and nutrient wise, but it looks like you just need some calmag right now the hydro store should have some just follow low dose to start and use it once a week HF soils are low on these nutes so you will always need to add when using their soil
I used FF liquid trio and powdered flower trio. Just a lot of pH’ing and like @Newt said you gotta stick with the schedule. It’s a good line, just pricey for the work you have to put in. Am using Jack’s in Coco now. Same feed, same mix every day. Very little guess work, very simple program and cheeeeeeap.
Jacks 321, nectar for the gods, and Gaia Green produce some real dank weed. With the right genetics. (Genetics and Environment is everything) . There isn’t a silver bullet when growing weed. ( most nutrient lines want you to be successful) . Personally I spend my time growing microbe population, and large root systems. With a large healthy root system and a media full of microbes, your chances of success has been increased 100%.
