Overwhelmed with Nutrient Selection

Im sure this is an over asked question and I’ve searched the older posts as well. I’m looking to help my plants out as much as possible. I’m growing them in Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. Not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on nutrients either. I’m looking for nutrients that are not salt based and are easy to understand how to use. I’ve been looking at Dr. Earth and a few others. I’ve heard bad things about the FF Trio. Any recommendations?

I can’t recommend any cuz I’m using the fox farms trio and cal mag lol. with that being said, the master growers of this community will have great recommendations for you.

Have you read anything about Jack’s 321. It’s probably one of the easiest to use. Same mixture start to finish and very cheap to use.

Yes I’ve looked into the Jacks as well. I’ve seen where smaller quantities can be bought on eBay vs buying on their website.

Jack’s 321 program is the easiest and cheapest. Not to say FF nutes aren’t any good, but for price, ease of use, Jack’s is gonna have a lot of tally’s on this poll. Same feed ratio, start to finish. Very little pH’ing. Easy to adjust should any deficiency or toxicity show up, but I’ve yet to have any using it.

Is the Jacks salt based? I can’t find on their website if it is or not. But that isn’t necessarily a deal breaker.

i dont think fox farm is what i would use many people start with it . i wouldnt .

as a beginner start with small cheap bottle of FLORA NOVA GROW as the base

go with 1/4 teaspoon per gallon for veg and ramp it up as the weeks go by

for clones or small plants i would do half of that or a dropper tube and put like 8 drops in a spray bottle ph around 6.0

i just switched to REMO NUTRIENTS supossed to be the one that is guna beat advanced nutrients but will see

I use to use FF Trio for 2 years then switched to Jacks 321. The FF Trio grew some good buds but the flush’s where killing me.

Did you experience good results with the jacks?

Here’s a picture of my LA Confidential, grown with Jack’s. Admittedly this is mostly the results of genetics, but with good genetics and using Jack’s you can have excellent results.

Have you checked out Earth Dust by The Green Sunshine Company? I have a grow going currently with half the plants in Earth Dust and the others are getting my regular feedings. They’re in week 5 currently, but my journal goes back to when I started them. If you want to check it out, here’s a link.

I love jack’s 3 2 1. I buy the smaller bags on ebay. I bought a bunch of condiment containers for A B and epson and weigh up enough for about 25 gals. That really makes it simple

I use dry amendments (Happy Frog). However, I started with Alaska fish emulsion. I still use that every month with my teas.

Jack’s Part B is Calcium Nitrate (95 - 100% per SDS)
From Wikipedia
Calcium nitrate , also called Norgessalpeter ( Norwegian salpeter ), is an inorganic compound with the formula Ca(NO3)2. This colourless salt absorbs moisture from the air and is commonly found as a tetrahydrate. It is mainly used as a component in fertilizers but has other applications

Oh and yes Jack’s does a nice job

Ok. Thanks

I’m doing the same as @BudzMS I use Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil and liquid trio nutrients and cal-mag. It’s as simple as possible in my opinion and works great. My first grow I got over 3 ounces and that was only cuz I was being super cautious, nervous, and stingy with the nutes :joy: I would’ve gotten more im sure. This time around I’ve watered and fed much more than last time, I’m just starting to flower this week finally. Pretty sure this plants gonna end up being a beast.
