The Jacks is not in a bottle. There’s a A and a B. I was upping B just a tad. Over the months with Jack’s I always found myself having some type of nitrogen issues. Leaves looking like eagle claws. been growing the same 4 strains the whole time. Same soil basically the same ppm’s going in i keep my pH between 6.1 + 6.6. Same light same air flow. If it was just one plant I could justify me doing something wrong or something happened or a lockout or something something. But after multiple grows of the same strains but products I’ve definitely seen and smelled a difference. I just felt like I had better luck with Fox Farm. So I went back. I only switched because I heard Jack’s was easy to mix. I have a continuous grow where I’m chopping something every 2 to 3 weeks so I figured Jack’s would speed things up . So time is valuable in the garden But you still have to weigh it out mix it separately and then water. When just pouring a couple tablespoons in a gallon of water is easier. For me. Again everybody on here promotes jacks and it works. Just for me not as well.
I always use bio bizz soil and nutrients, fish mix for veg, and bloom and booster for flower
MrPeat long time no see brother! That is one good looking flower
Do the ratios of A and B change when switching to flower from veg?
I had time to think more about the nutrients and i decided to try both products. I’ll do 2 plants, fox and the other 2 jacks. Some smart guy on this forum, not sure who, but he suggested and i think its a perfect idea!
always like a good experiment and watching the outcome with good discussions
Sledgehammer flush? Sounds intresting.
Hey Larry, when you said to me to also invest in a uv light, how do you implement this to your routine? I already owned one that I bought from the same people that make the light i own. I read up some on this but i am still listening to how others use it in their regimin
SledgeHammer is a unique rinse formula designed to remove excess fertilizer build up by encouraging water movement through soil and soilless media. High fertilizer use can compromise plant growth over time due to concentrated mineral salt deposits.
Nope. Same formula all the way through
Hey @THC73 good luck with your grow! I am sure you will do just fine, and has you have seen the good folks here have your back. You have already made one of the most important decisions by choosing a quality nutrient line,(Or two) and following their feeding schedule. But with that said, beware that some in the grow supply chain have no problem selling you way more than you really need.
You said that you have three types of FF soil. I have have read that some of these soils are so hot out of the bag. That you don’t need any nutrients for several weeks. You don’t want to cook them too soon, preferably do that after it cured and rolled up.
It has been widely accepted that cannabis uses different nutrients at different life stages. Is this not the case or how does this nutrient line somehow provide everything needed at all stages of growth to get the max out of your plants. I am about to start my first grow in coco so I haven’t used a nutrient line for my only nutrients before.
Great advice to always keep in mind. Less is sometimes more and always practice the K.I.S.S. method, it works too!
They grow outside in the ground unattended with all the same nutrients beginning to end right?
The plant just takes what it needs.
So Jacks provides a spectrum of nutrition that will work all the way through allowing the plant to use what it needs. Maybe I’m wrong and it doesn’t work. I cant say.
I am not an expert grower at all. Just an experienced grower. But I have learned the hard way. You need to be at the expert level before you start making your own nutrient schedule.
I think a beginner should stick to a nutrient schedule for a couple reasons that come to mind, I am sure there are more.
1 Nutrients is one less thing that the new grower has to second guess themselves about, as they are hovering over their babies wanting to do more. This when they need to learn to basics. It only took me until midway through my second grow to learn not to overwater.
2 Less change of excess nitrogen at harvest time. A beginner will likely not know the signs of this and would not flush enough.
Experiments are awesome. Whatever you choose just remember to have fun with it. Growing weed should not only be pleasurable at the end when you smoke it but growing it as well. Just remember If you run them side-by-side don’t forget each seed is different and not every seed will grow the same even if it’s from the same plant. The only way to be exact is to take clones from a mother plant. The exact same genetics as the mother plant. That’s what I’ve been doing forever and a day . Every once in awhile I’ll throw in something new just to change it up but for the most part is the same 4 strains from the same mother plants. But either way the experiment should work well enough to tell a difference. Also Fox Farm nutrients can be strong. The instructions say use full strength. Not every plant can take full-strength. Maybe start out with half the amount of nutrients per plant. My plants can take it. I give them full strength every water. And the UV light no that was not me. You want to talk to @dbrn32 he is the light Guru on this forum. Can’t wait to see how things turn out for you. Good luck and have fun
@THC73 also I recommend on keeping a journal at least the first few Bros. How much nutrients you use how much water how many times do you feed them a week ppm’s going in PPM is coming out pH going in PH coming out. That way if something happens you can always reflect back to what did I do or not do. Have fun
@larry1 Is very correct, for example I like to alternate between feeding and plain water early in the grows. Without notes I would not have clue what I did or when it was done.
Yes, sir will definitely keep a journal. I haven’t even started yet and i been non stop reading and learning. Takeing notes and printing as much information as possible. Pictures of different techinics, styles and methods to everything that is growing cannabis plant related.
Taking notes and reading as much as you can is a great idea. Even if you don’t believe in something that you’re reading always finish it out. You never know if you might need it later. Or if somebody brings it up later you can say you read something about it. Either way there’s many different ways of growing out there not everybody is the same or not every plant is the same. Kind of like the nutrients. Some people like Jack’s some like foxfarm some people like Gaia or others. Take everything you’ve read and everything everybody said Whittle it down to what works best for you. And I can’t stress enough about not stressing and happy growing:-) good luck on your first gro. There’s a ton of people on here with a ton of answers for you if you have anymore questions. Keep us all posted. Happy growing
