Should I use miracle grow pearlier for my mj plant grow?
I bought it and didn’t realize it had miracle grow in it should I use it or buy different?
It will be fine if it is just perlite. MG soil products should be avoided.
I actually made the same post many months ago wondering the same thing because I was in Walmart and they had the miracle grow perlite and the organic perlite and I posted my question and I was told that some of the miracle grow per light may have nutrients in it so you might want to check into that
I would avoid it after seeing the pic. “Enriched with” means that MG perlite contains time release nutrients that nuke your plant with nitrogen and submarine your pH every time you water.
Do NOT use that perlite! It will mess your ph and EC up bad, and yes, I know first hand. Calls to them from @Lostgirl and another member confirmed they add nutes at 7-7-7 I think it was. Lostgirl had to go all the way to their poison control center to even get an answer. And they wouldn’t specify if it could be rinsed away or flushed out. I found out it doesn’t!
Greeeat:( thank you guys for letting me know before I used it
I order mine from the Depot of Home, 4 cu ft bags and they have coarse size too.
Yep, you think that until you get it good and wet and ph hits 4. lol
I have used that perlite with no major problem
Dont know if it matters, but i grow outdoor and have used it with good results with no harmful effects. All my plants are planted with th MG pearlite. Just my results. I have been warned against it, so far, so good. ![]()

For anyone using Perlite, make sure it’s wet before you handle it. Perlite has a fine dust in the bag and that dust can get into your lungs and cause scar tissue that makes it hard to breathe.
When you get a bag of Perlite, use a cake fork or knitting needle to poke some small holes in the bottom of the bag. Then use a pair of scissors to cut a small opening at the top of the bag. After that put a garden hose in the hole in the top and let the bag fill up. Let the water drain out the bottom and then refill and drain a second time. After that the fine dust should be washed out. Try to do this on the lawn so the dust goes into the soil instead of drying out on concrete or paving and then blowing around.
If you use dry Perlite, even if it was washed, wear a well fitted dust mask so you don’t inhale any dust that might be left over. The dust can affect animal’s lungs too (dogs, cats, birds, etc) so don’t let the dust get on them either.
