Perlite in my local garden centers cost $19 for 8 quart bag.
Miracle-Gro is only $5 for an 8 quart bag.
Miracle Gro claims that they’re perlite is enriched implant food. After speaking with their emergency overdose department. Yes, I told them that I thought they were Dip N Dots ice cream and I ate it.
I was successfully able to get the NPK value. (They do not disclose that information on any website or packing)
The NPK value is 4-1-6 with that said I’d like to do a growing Happy frog soil. Do you think that npk value of 4-1-6 would interfere in any way?
Happy Frog is a good choice. It’s not heavily amended, many growers here comine it with Ocean Forest to have longer starts without needing to feed. Ocean Forest is hot, so mixing with the HF dulls it down a tad.
To your question, though, I’m not sure I understand…
Happy Frog is just fine alone, or combined with other cannabis friendly soil/amendments.
Miracle Gro is kind of a no-no amongst the community. It is loaded with time release nutrients that can burn up plants really quickly. Very few growers here have successfully made it start to finish with good results.
There are nutrient systems, such as Grow Dots, which looks similar to the pellets in Miracle Gro. It is added to the soil, and sort of creates a water only regimin, with notta lotta maintenance.
I’m referring to perlite. For drainage in soil. (Little white rocks). Miracle Gro is the only company that adds nutrients to perlite. They add 4-1-6 is that safe to use
Got to do what cha got to do. The NPK value in their perlite seems to be trade secret or something. If there’s food in my perlite I want to know how much.
I’m using 50% potting mix 25% pearlite 25% Pete Moss.
First time growing in a tent kit 2 x 2 doing four plants the seeds from my buddy he won’t tell me what cultivar they are so I’m gonna have to figure that out eventually any advice it sure would be welcomed
The thing about NPK values and cannabis is that during flowering the plant wants a lower N and higher PK values. Miracle grow does not change. Its why growers use soil like happy frog that runs out of food around week 4 so you can start feeding a flowering formula.
Not saying it wont work, but you may have to experiment to find an PK supplement to get decent flower buds.
Packaging laws might be more strict here in Chinada. But it took fabric dye out of ketchup chips when people found out.
Canadian package says 0.04 0.01 0.06 (and in French too). The person on the phone isn’t probably as good with numbers as you are. It’s 1/100th what they told you. I doubt searches from anywhere else in the world get canadian content.
It’s about ten bucks a bag here. To compare a pack of smokes is about 20, a case of beer about 30. A big bag of Lays ketchup chips 5 bucks and a pack of zigzags is 3. Now to get it all in one store…
Im using miracle gro perlite and havnt had any concerns. 2 plants inside with 50/50 happy frog and ocean forest and 10% added perlite. And an outdoor plant in pro mix with 10% added perlite. It seems to me the added npk is negligible.
That’s kind of what I thought. I can see using Miracle-Gro soil being an issue. But I can’t see the Pearl light being a problem. Thank you very much for your response
If you check your local farmers CO-OP, you can get a huge bag for 25 bucks. I havent had to buy any in a LONG time and i add 25% more perlite to my soil mix than what already comes in it
