Thanks for letting me know the defoliation / growth-training was liked

Over in my ILGM intro, I had told everyone I’m an edibles guy

So all those healthy leaves that got trimmed? They all got dried and then used in another mad-scientist quest. . . testing for the perfect time/tempo combo to decarb fan leaves. As of 15 April, here’s the winner . . .

As a scientific-wild-ass-guess, Natasha’s been giving me 50mg of THC from 4 grams of dried leaf when I follow these DECARB INSTRUCTIONS:

Heat oven to 230 F

Equipment Needed:

  • baking pan
  • silicone baking mat
  • an oven-safe bowl (corning or pyrex, for example)
  • 4 (or more) grams of dried/cured fan leaves

The stems for each leaf need to be pulled off and thrown out. Put the good stuff in the bowl

Place the silicone baking mat over the top of the bowl. Then invert it

Bake 40 minutes

Immediately transfer the baked leaves to a room-temperature plate or bowl. When cool, store in a cool dry place until ready to use.

It’s a compliment when someone (anyone) asks for a recipe

@PogueMahone, does anyone at your place make infusions? either you or your wife?

If you’ve ever infused, then you know about the strained-off greenage. . . the green stuff that gets strained off after infusing THC into some tasty buddah

Me? I don’t throw that green away
Hell, no! Not when the kitchen is nothing if not a laboratory!

This recipe was just a cooking experiment that went right. Damn!, I like eatin’ fresh greens I’ve grown

Please tell your wife thanks. . . and that the recipe is to make her favorite spinach quiche

  • either one she pours from a carton
  • or one she makes herself

Before putting the pie in the oven, mix in all that good strained-off greenage - or maybe mix it into just one side

Bake as usual

Again, thanks for the compliment of asking for the recipe

But fan leaves have no thc

THC9
It’s present in the aerial parts of both male & female cannabis plants

  • Females are stronger, of course
  • Female buds are strongest

There’s a whole industry that claims to be growing hemp (male cannabis) and then using an extraction method to create THC9. Real or not, it’s been the basis for sales of recreational edibles here in MN for a couple of years.

@Caligurl, you can find my technique for decarbing dried/cured leaves here in my journal. Give it a try. If you don’t have a silicone mat, use a double-thickness of parchment paper - er do what Agnes does and cut a circle from a brown paper bag. She got big scissors that Agnes - keeps 'em sharp.

  • I’ve intentionally held back from telling how I dry & cure fan leaves . . . the step before decarbing. Maybe a topic for friendly future conversation?

Not trying to be rude or anything. I do edibles as a side gig and I am a professional chef.

Here’s my journal.

I now use a source turbo and make qwet. I also press and make hash but I haven’t updated my journal much lately. I’m working on cannabis infused kombucha at the moment. At the beginning of the journal I used the old method that didn’t recover the alcohol. My grows normally provide around 9-11 pounds of quality bud and 90% is processed to make concentrate for edibles so I am looking to upgrade to an Etoh which will process much more at each cycle. I learned most of what I know from a wonderful person who doesn’t visit here anymore but she has some great things and we still keep
In touch. She is also a cannabis chef. Check her out too. @blackthumbbetty

Fan leaves have such a tiny amount of thca that the few fan leaves you used wouldn’t amount t to anything at all. I use 1 ounce of solid buds to get about 3 grams of concentrate that equals 2250+ mg of thc (thc decarbed converts to thc) but I can get technical about the other cannabanoids if you’d like.

I’m always willing to teach and learn so please don’t take this wrong

I’m grateful you’ve acknowledged that there’s THCA in fan leaves - such a tiny amount

I’m glad to close this journal with this note - letting this final entry be a mirror that reflects your actions; showing them to you so you can do better.

Confused? Don’t be.
You’ve posted twice in my journal. See yourself the way I do.

Please don’t close your journal @OUTinMN

I, for one, value your contributions.

No need to close your journal, mate. I was offering you to see what others were doing, and I was open to discussion.

I’m muting this so you don’t need to worry about me again. It’s you that needs to wake up and start being a little humble. It goes a long way.
Peace out and I wish you nothing but the best.

Dont close the journal. I dont think @Caligurl was wanting an argument. Just telling us what she does and knows. It’s all good. Please dont close this, we want to continue to follow along.

@OUTinMN I say keep the journal going. Please do not close it. It’s been wonderful following along and I’d hate to not see the end result of what is going to be a beautiful plant. I agree with @FUKAZ28 I don’t believe there was any ill will from Cali. Just an observation from her experience and expertise.
Keep the journal going growmie. Don’t let one little tift ruin a solid journal. I truly believe this journal will be a wealth of info to many growers.
