Whats the best medium to use with jacks 321?

You can use it effectively in all grow media. What is best can be debatable. Each (soil, hydro, or coco) has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Ive been usuing a mix of ff of and happy frog for all my grow. And im also learning how much bro-ology ive been using to grow as well. That itself can be very detrimental! now that im getting myself set straight. Im in a rut trying to re figure so much out  i havent used coco or anything else so i dont know what id be signing myself up for.

You will get faster growth in coco. Coco must be watered daily, as it becomes hydrophobic if it dries out. Soil should be left to dry out btw waterings for good root health.

You have to be careful with the info out there. With YouTube, for instance, content creators get paid to produce content whether it is good advice or not. It’s all about what gets clicks and not necessarily what is good information. We see silly grow advice from time-to-time that newer growers have followed and it has gotten them into trouble.

There are some good channels out there, but YT is full of crap like Elvis is going to open a portal to a parallel dimension over Antarctica the next time there is a full moon.

The great thing about this site is no one gets paid jack. We’re just here for the satisfaction of seeing others be successful.

Absolutely! Alot of what i learned was from an older peer of mine but he was it it when technology wasnt the best and this is just about 10 years ago. So much has been learned since then its crazy. Ive just been doing my own research and getting in on we the growers. So much more to learn than just watch your ph and have some okay lights oh dont forget to train your plants. So weighing pros and cons with coco and soil what are your experiences?

Watering and pH are the major differences. See above for watering practices. pH is managed differently btw soil and coco. The pH for coco is 5.8 to 6.3 whereas it should be 6.3 to 6.8 in soil. The growth rate in coco is faster.

Jacks imo works best with coco fed daily. But will work in any medium. For me, organic nutrients with soil, and synthetic with a hydro/coco style grow.

Coco, daily feedings.

I used jacks with the fox farms soils and it worked great. My current run i switched to coco and jacks with autopots. The coco with continuous feed is getting pretty amazing growth rates for me. I wouldn’t attempt coco without an automatic feed set up. I don’t have time to feed mine every day.

Well im thjnking im going to give this run a shot in coco! Is their any specific brands yall suggest? Feeding instructions i should be aware of? And will it affect the seedlings if im going from soil to coco? also what method would be preferred lst, sea of green/scrog netting or is that more of a preference i have yet to run a scrog net.

This is why I do coco and Jacks. About 4wks in, about 5 left…

I also just started using CocoBliss expandable plain bricks. I was using CannaCoco, but the Bliss doesn’t compact nearly as much. It’s pretty cheap on Amazon also.

Sorry to keep bombimg the thread…

Load your coco with some mykos. And thoroughly soak it through. You may have a little hiccup because soil and coco need different pH’s, but Jacks is pretty gentle stuff. Forgiving also.

I use dehumidifier water, about 15-20ppm. I add 4ml silica per gallon, mix well, then Jacks in order. Part A, then epsom, then CalNit (Part B). I soak to runoff every day when on normal feedings.

Glad to help! With Jacks, it’s the same ratio mix every time. If you want or need to adjust, it’s easy peasy.

Ope one more thing @Borderryan22 do you throw the finish and bloom into your routine or stick with a and b?

Gonna throw my 2 cents in with the Coco voters.
Using Jacks is a piece of cake. Yes I water every day but that’s no big deal.
Using Reverse Osmosis water just add part A and shake, This one takes a few minutes to Dissolve. Shake it gently every minute or so and in about 5 minutes its all dissolved. If the water is a little warm it dissolves faster. Then add part B and shake. Part B dissolves fast in in one minute its ready. Water your plants. I use a transmission fluid funnel and a 3/4" PVC pipe extension to aim the water. Bending over is hard for an old guy and this makes it easy.

10 Minutes is all it takes. Jacks and RO water will hit 5.8 pH every time for me so I don’t bother to check pH or PPMs anymore. Many growers spend more than 10 minutes just looking into the tent. Its an addictive habit most of us have. So 10 minutes to water each day is really no big deal. Your gonna be looking at them anyway.
As stated the growth is fast and healthy. Thick stems and nice buds. My best effort so far yielded 22 dry ounces from a 3x4 tent with 450 true watts of decent lighting.

I dont add anything to the grow. Just the jacks and nothing else. You may add other stuff and get a little better results but its not necessary. If its your first grow in Coco and Jacks perhaps just do it straight and then add things the next time to see what it does.

I used to add the Fox Farm Dry Boosters, but have since just adjust my recipe at certain points in flower. I bump up A&B at the beginning, then dial back the Part B the middle few weeks and up the Part A. Towards the end, back closer to normal ratios.

Same here. I tried several lines before trying a Jacks kit from eBay. Never looked back.

I just opened a bag of CalNit, but it isn’t Jack Peters. It came with a 14lb Jacks kit. Can’t remember the name, but it’s 15.5 on the N instead of 15. Been using the 4/2 recipe a while now, though. 4g Part A, 2g CalNit, no epsom. I’ve been going 1.4 CN the last few days.
