Sounds great guys thankyou so much!! @Spiney_norman good to hear from you old timer
I love using jacks with Roots Organics Original⦠Has been so easy. Roots is very consistent soil.
@MidwestGuy so with your experiece with coco. Were you feeding nutes everyday/ every other? And as you said its hydrophobis so then what would be the stance on adding perlite to coco? And btw thankyou for your knowledge as well! I was trying to cram pack alot into my brain the other day in short amount of time. Never works out well
I as well⦠been using the Roots with Jacks a couple of years and its just simple, no issues, no drama. Dont have to feed till almost flower also. Plants love it.
@Borderryan22 buffered or no?
I recently bought a couple blocks of coco. I put 8 gallons of water in a big plastic tote and then dropped in one block of compressed dry coco coir. Instantly hydrated and sucked up all the water. Hydrophobic qualities are not going to be a problem unless you let it dry out to the point your plant dies. Just plan to water and feed every day. Its not difficult and because you do it every day you get fast at it.
Coco grows are essentially a hydroponic grow that uses coco fiber to hold the liquid and roots. Flood it once a day with nutrient water and you are good to go.
This is one of those areas where you can scare yourself by over thinking and over researching it.
Its dead easy and very productive. And I cant grow squat out in a garden but I can do this.
I agree with @Spiney_norman. Coco and jacks has been super easy. I used the standard 321 recipe for whole run. The girls have been running wild. I travel for my work, so the autopots make it work for me.
I donāt think iāll be going back to soil.
@Spiney_norman lol im trying to get it all together before I start. Transplant this coming week and get going. So im going to food nutes everyday? And since im going from soil to coco. Do i need to rinse what soil is left out of them? And any perferred mix of nutes while they are just coming out of seedling into veg? I was thinking maybe a 3rd. I need ro lookg at the chart again
For coco? The bricks are plain, unbuffered. I expand using full strength Jacks, pHāed to 5.75 or so.
No, no worries as long as you are just in starter cups
Feed from day 1. If using Jacks go full strength.
Im in solo cups so there is gonna be a bit of soil with em when they come out. Ill give them a light rinse and call it good! Thanks guys!
