Hello i need some guidance i have yellowing

Yellowing there all in coco with jacks feed haven’t feed that much

Are you watering them til run off each day? And what are you pH’ing at? You should be feeding every time with coco.

Oh so there big enough for run off ?

No run off yet and ph 5.8 and 6.2

I’d say you’d be safe to. Early on like the ones on the right I wouldn’t yet. Just enough to keep the coco wet.

pH range is good.

They all look pretty good. Coco likes a 90% moisture content. Run off is to keep the nutrient salts from building up. Which every watering should be feed.

Howdy
Has your coco been buffered to 5.8?
That meter you have there , are you using that to pH.
Need to get a quality pH pen and a EC or TDS pen.

Nope thats just for moisture

You won’t need that with coco Growmie. Unlike soil that needs a wet to dry cycle, coco needs frequent fertigation :love_you_gesture:

@Eaglesfan73 , Welcome to the forum. I grow in Coco with Jacks. Its a great simple and very effective system. Because of the nature of coco coir you cannot overwater it. The fibers will always drain enough to have tiny air pockets even if you water it every hour of the day. That’s what makes it different than soil. Soil will hold water without draining enough to give the roots air until the plant uses it and it dries out some. Thus without air the roots cannot perform their job. That is why hydroponic systems have air bubblers or other systems to give the roots air.
Early on you can let coco go 2 or 3 days between watering when the plant is small, like the first week or 2, but it should be totally wet and not dry in any spots. Roots grow incredibly fast and within a week or two they will have reached the bottom and sides already. So keep it all watered. Yours should be watered daily at this point. You do want run off to at least a small degree. Letting coco go dry between watering will build up the salt content too high. Watering every day minimum keeps the nutrient levels where they need to be. I had some leaf burning early on and I thought I was feeding too much so I let them go a day or two between watering/feeding and it only got worse. Coco is a very different beast and it needs daily feedings. But with Jacks its easy to do. 5 minutes to mix up the nutrients and another minute to water and I am done for the day. You get really fast at it after a couple weeks.
And feed with every watering.

Does that mean it’s easier to grow in soil since you only need to water every 2 to 3 days as needed?

No. I find soil to be harder. A few minutes a day to feed is no big deal.
Every soil grow I have done I wind up trying to get the pH of the soil corrected. Even when using the same brand of soil like Happy Frog the bags differ in how they work. Coco is always the same. Don’t even check runoff numbers. Just water and go on with the day.

No spots, yellow leaves and good stout stems.

Yeah i fed till run off they looking much better thx guys

That’s good to hear and see!

Off topic but how do you like the transplant mat? I picked a similar one up and haven’t had the chance to use it.

I agree and the same reason I made the jump pretty quickly I didn’t have the patients to try and dial in soil with every run. Combatting issues along the way.

That said some of these organic guys are really dialed in and it’s pretty BA

Absolutely agree. If I were to ever drop the Coco Jacks combo I would copy that system.
I was about to go to Earth Dust when they stopped making it. If I ever get a second tent I may experiment with an organic grow. Just for the fun of it.

Absolutely. It’s pretty inspirational watching these guys. Love when there is cover crop too. Then you also get to explore the world of predatory bugs. Interesting stuff,

I know quite a few have turned to @Roadsideorganics.ok

Thank you for the tag. Im a little opposite of both yall lol, while it took a little learning curve and change of thought processe made it all super easy. Half of why i run organics is how adaptable it was to my handicap lifestyle and the little effort required to do a run once the system is dialed in. Watering every 2-3 days, topdressings once a month, and compost tea or fpj once a week. Gives me tons of extra time and energy to put into improving they system, ie adding in foliar feeds, knf and all that. To boot i haven’t ph adjusted anything, including my water, in 8 years. The balance of the soil microbiology and how it communities woth the plants will adjust the soil ph itself to increase particular nutrient uptake and plant health, also buffering any inputs.

Its definitely a change of processe and can take a minute to get on the groove, but one of the best decisions ive ever made.

Yeah no mess lol

I like my transplant mats, they’re great for holding runoff under my plants! :+1:

I want to make an auto waterer for my plants in soil. Anybody know a good way to do it? I already have a5watt water pump coming in, tubing, and t connectors.
