Hi everyone novice grower here this is my first “real” grow I guess you could say tried a couple years back with a bag seed and whatever soil my papa had lying around harvested way to early I was excited
This time I took things a lot more serious order actual genetics, ,did research on soil ,spent the money on nutrients,ph tester etc
So where I am at I have several different plants all in different weeks of growth (still in veg ) started them indoors just moved outside on the 28th of may I did a 50/50 Fox farms ocean forest happy frog mix on my soil and bought almost every Fox farm nutrient I also purchased lotus nutrient starter pack so I can try both on different plants and see what works best for me
So I’m looking for any pointers or guidance on my outdoor grow its in the Midwest southern Illinois using anywhere from 7 gal to 25 gal pots FF soil ,FF nutes or lotus nutes
Welcome aboard. I have used Lotus nutes, had a good harvest and plants had massive trunks. FF tends to build up salts in soil and they recommend periodic flushing.
Yea I was kinda drawn into Fox farms with all the names and bottles like a excited kid haha but getting more into it I think I much rather keep it simple like lotus
And with the salts should I flush accordingly to Fox farms feeding schedule ? Or is there another way?
Welcome to the community , with the fox Farm soil You should be good for the first 5 or 6 weeks without feeding anything. The tomato basket can be a pain to work around. If you need a little support later on, bamboo sticks works fine. Good luck
Welcome to the forum. You’re in the best place for guidance and support in your grow. Don’t be worried to ask about whatever you need. Everyone is here to help and learn.
You can use their schedule. If you want simple, look at Jacks 321, as easy as it gets and still a great nutrient for hydro as well as soil . I try others but always end up back with jacks. I recently tried the Mega Crop 1 part and love it but it doesn’t play well with reservoirs and Autopots, too much film buildup on everything.
I definitely started feeding too soon so if I stopped feeding on one of the smaller plants would the soil still have enough to feed? I transplanted into fresh soil when I up potted less than two weeks ago? Or did I ruin the soil by feeding? And thank you already looking for bamboo sticks
It’s funny mega crop was one of the other nutrients I was going to try or grow dots but after mixed reviews on the mega crop went with lotus but I’m definitely going to check out jacks 321 thanks again !!
Welcome @Jdallas91 ! As others have stated, FF soil will supply enough nutrients for a solid month of vegetation and FF nutes will require flushes. Plus they are light in magnesium so pick up some plain epsom salt to supplement if you go that route. Jacks 321 is a very easy nutrient regimen to work with. Same feed from start to finish. No checking charts to see what’s needed and when it’s needed.
After all I spent on Fox farms I’m definitely going to keep using it on a few at what ratio do I add epsom salt? I’m also going to starts using 321 one on one or two of my girls thanks for the tips !
No , your soil will be fine. If you don’t already have a TDS meter, it would be a good choice to measure PPM when you’re feeding . It takes the guess work out.
Definitely understand that. It does grow good plants. I used it for several grows. I dissolved one teaspoon per gallon on “water only” days. I didn’t want to mix the epsom in with the fox farms.
