Thanks you !! I’m finding that out quick
Hello, All!
I am a new to this site and to growing. I’m not sure if this is where to jump in but i did not see where I could start my own thread. I have a David Banner Auto flower plant that has been above soil for 2 weeks. I think I goofed up by planting sprout in miracle grow potting soil.
My plan wast to start indoors and plant in pot outdoors. I don’t have any measuring equipment yet or know how to use it. Any suggestions would be great! Sort of overwhelmed with all the reading I have done..I ordered some FFarms Ocean Forest soil in about it. Thanks in advance!

Go to the home page, click on the arrow to your right and it should start new topic. Keeping it in one place makes it easy for others to help you. The MG soil doesn’t work for 99.9 percent, Dennis62 on here is a wizard with that soil. The FFOF is still fairly hot soil so you shouldn’t need to feed in it for 5-6 weeks, only ph’d water. You will need EC and PH meters after that to check your feeds EC and ph. You need a ph pen now to ph your water. Also you will need to test your plain water to see if it has enough PPMs, if it’s too low you won’t be able to get a steady ph reading and will have to add cal mag to get it up. Tap water needs 150 ppm to check ph .
Welcome to the community healthy looking seedling.
Thank you so much, I’m not sure what all the acronyms are but I can figure that out!
Thank You!!
Hey thanks, I haven’t screwed it up yet!!
Fox Farms Ocean Forest
Electrical Conductivity
Potential Hydrogen
Parts per Million….
Hey, thanks Growdoc. Can you recommend some equipment please?
Can you explain more about. PPM? Parts per million of what? Can you recommend an EC meter and when to use it?
PPM is a measurement of EC actually, meters measure EC or electrical conductivity and convert it to PPM . So, on our scale in the US, 1.0 EC equals 500 ppm. 1000 ppm is 2.0 EC, just two ways of measuring nute strength or amount of minerals in water.. here are some good meters that won’t break the bank.
And the EC meter.
Thanks Growdoc! I picked up a PH20 already. What should I be using them for during my grow?
To check PH and EC or strength of your input feeds, and your runoff to tell you what your media is like at the root zone.
Sweet, can you instruct me on what levels of PH and EC I should be targeting?
If your in soil, you want to target 6.5 PH, as for EC, that will vary as to the size of the plant and how long it’s been eating from that soil, after 5-6 weeks in Ocean Forest, you will need to start feeding.
Thanks!!! I just re-planted the plant outside in a larger pot with Ocean forest soil + extra para lite
.
Then you will have longer before you need to feed, OF has a good bit in it .
