Some of my tops are growing individual shoots…is this foxtailing, reveg, or a hermaphrodite going to seed? The top cut and on table is same strain, different plant. Waiting for trics to cloud and amber and these appeared on two of 6 plants.
Pretty good foxtailing. Could be strain specific but I would check your lights. DLI should be about 35 but not sure how long you been in flower. Last few weeks I drop to 35 to inhibit new calyxes stacking up. Want them to get fat.
So do you think i should harvest now or continue to wait for tricos to amber?
I do not have a good answer for you. I would check my light first. If the light is the cause then sort that out and watch them. Foxtails still smoke. I would not harvest until the new whites turn unless there was a specific reason though.
I’ve never had a light adjustment fix foxtailing. I believe it’s totally genetics rather then lights
You must have your lighting dialed in as it does happen and is due to light/heat stress when it is not in the geno of the plant.
Buds that foxtail are not exactly detrimental, but they are not exactly beneficial either. The most glaring setback is that it breaks up the structure of the herb. Instead of growing into a rounder shape, it tends to sprout out in a more elongated way, ultimately leaving less of the plant for you to use. In addition, this process is a common indication that your plants are not properly ripening.
“Bad” foxtailing involves the occurrence of foxtails due to heat and/or light stress. This often manifests in calyces that form spires and make the bud look quite odd.
However, foxtailing is not always an abnormality. There are certain cannabis varieties that feature naturally-occurring foxtails, like in some Purple strains, or the Cole Train strain. This process is more common among sativa plants
I have always had my lights at the proper distance away and always seem to have at least one plant foxtail bad. I think bad genetics of hybrids cause it.
Just grow them out and harvest as normal, they look weird and suck to trim but it’s bud and you can get a lot still.
Definitely foxtail but I would finish the plant to satisfy what you like on the color of the crystals.
