Is this brand going to do any good?

Any product that says “controlled release fertilizer” is not compatible with cannabis and should be avoided.

Understood, may I ask why? For future reference

It contains nitrogen pellets that nuke your plant with nitrogen and submarines your pH every time you water.

I’m not home with access to my pics, but I will post a few pics of “time release fertilizer” victim plants when I get home in a few hours. It’s not pretty.

Fox Farm soils, Coast of Maine, Roots Organics, and Black Magic are all good cannabis soils.

If start in can I just transport out into one of the others before plant gets to big?

I would start a plant in proper soil. Seedlings are very vulnerable to poor soil conditions.

Ok cause maybe that’s what happened to my last plant but it was fine until 4 months in and this was the soil I was using

Some plants will tolerate it. Most plants will not. Healthy plants will be more productive.

Gotcha. Be safe than sorry I suppose. Appreciate the feedback.

Seeds should always be started in a nutrient-free medium like straight coco. Seeds have everything they need for the first couple of weeks.

You got good advice on ditching the potting mix shown. Use it for tomatoes and you’ll be much happier.

I’ve grown in Miracle Gro soil and while it did give me a good yield the smoke was harsh. I was also lucky to get them to the finish line.

Gotcha. This is why I’m asking

We love when new growers ask before jumping into the wrong end of the pool. Ask away!

The extended release nutrients isn’t necessarily bad as things like grow dots are extended release and made for cannabis so i wouldn’t go as far to say these types are not compatible as in they want work because they will grow cannabis for sure.

Miracle grow soil for example is one of the worst for time release nitrogen and some say it can’t be used but these was grew in Miracle grow potting soil.

That brand you have seems to have way less then the miracle grow does, so id say use it if it’swhat you have. I do like to add extra perlite to all my bag soils just to increase drainage and aeration.

But there are better soils, foxfarm ocean forest or happy frog is what I typically use when I grew in soil, though grow most my plants in coco-coir useing autopots, i typically have a couple in soil at any given time aswell

Okay so is there any certain type of perlite to add or you recommend?

All perlite brands are pretty much the same

Alright sounds good thanks for the advice. Just wanting to dot my I 's and cross my T’s as much as I can this round.

I like big chunky perlite but it seems hard to find
This is what I got my last order but I’ve used all different kinds with same end results I’d say.

Those are quarters for size reference. That bag was supposed to be #4+ but as you see its alot if small stuff but works just fine.
